I absolutely don’t know the situation for this, but could Slaf be sent to Laval for the last couple games to play in the AHL playoffs? If we can do that, adding Slaf for the playoffs would be huge

In 2024-25... I don't think he can.

1. Hutson has already decided to return to school next year, so he is not Laval bound.

2. I believe Reinbacher has a European out clause (most European players do), so if he isn't in the NHL he likely heads back overseas.

3. Struble and Mailloux are not the top pairing, Hutson-Reinbacher would be and Struble wouldn't be above Engstrom either.

Edit** my apologies didn't see this was 24-25 even still if the choice for Hutson is Laval or the NCAA, he likely still chooses the NCAA

1) This is 2024-25, not 2023-24
2) This is 2024-25, not 2023-24
3) Since this is 2024-25, those two will have had a year of playing together, which would make them veterans on this young team

I am really not sure about that. By all accounts he wants to turn pro ASAP but the Habs asked him to return to the NCAA. I think a year in the AHL will do him good.

I also think a year of dominating the AHL will do all these players a world of good. Rushing them to MTL probably won't work, so we should win the Calder and then graduate a lot of players in in 2025-26.

I know this will not happen this way, but it would be interesting, plus I would have season tickets to the Rocket and go to every single game!

Even if Struble and Mailloux have a year together and are AHL vets why put the more talented players lower in the lineup for them? Would you have put Caufield lower in the lineup when he was sent to laval than Vejdemo? Vejdemo had more experience in the AHL the AHL is a development league meaning that the best players get put in the best positions to help them succeed not get held back. The only way Reinbacher and Hutson develop into top pairing D is to put them in a top pairing role. I know Hutson is likely more of a 2 LD because of his size but he still has top pairing ceiling. Mailloux and Struble don't have that ceiling

Interesting take.

I am not specifically opposed, but I see them proving it over the season and earning those minutes. AHL is still faster and harder than NCAA or NL. They will need some time to adapt. Eventually they end up in top though, I agree!

Shame, could've been really nice. We could maybe do it this year though (2023-24).

I hope he earns his spot in the NHL this season. If he's a 0.5 PPG player, he should stay in the NHL.

95% sure he's gonna get a pretty stable NHL role this year, and I'm confident he can get between 0.4 and 0.6 ppg this year.
