Moving Nylander to subsidize a Karlsson acquisition only makes sense if the Leafs cannot re-sign Nylander.

A 2025 1st Round Pick is too little for Nylander, especially to a division rival. The Debrincat trade worked out the way it did because he had tunnel vision. He was only going to sign in Detroit. Nylander might be more receptive to signing with different teams who are willing to pay him superstar money, which as of now is about 9 to 10 million. I would expect in a trade with an extension baked in, he could get a 2024 1st Round pick and 1-2 decent pieces like a 2nd round pick or a B prospect. Look at the Fiala trade for a comparable.

Once you mention Knies and Lilly, Leafs tell you to get Smith and Seider

First off, the wings getting Nylander solely for 1 1st round rick is not ever going to happen. And why would toronto give that much up for a 33 year old injury prone defensemen (i know he had a good year but is not going to keep that pace either who is going to regress more too)
