I would not trade Jake Sanderson for Quinn Hughes 1 for 1 assuming Sanderson signs 8x8 this summer. Hughes is going to be more expensive soon, and Sanderson will end up as a premium top pairing defenseman who can matchup against anybody in the league.

If you don't watch/follow Ottawa, Sanderson projects to be the #3 most important player in the org' behind Stutzle and Tkachuk. If they get Sanderson at 8x8, that means he will be cost controlled for the next 9 years. Hughes is the better player, but timeline and for wise, I would value Sanderson more for the Sens situation.

Otherwise, the trade makes zero sense for anybody. The Sens cannot afford that cap wise. It doesn't fit any of their needs since they already have Stutzle and Norris.

Sens can’t have great players without paying. That gets one of Hughes or Pettersson, not both

Unless Boston's 2024 1st is a top 10 pick that will be the pick Ottawa gets.
