11 goals difference doesn’t matter I guess. Hey trade us Marner for Skinner.

The leafs would need a really good defensive player as well, Marner was a selke trophy finalist and had just under 100 points, We'd probably take Skinner if we got a good defender or another good 2 way forward.

THINK ABOUT THE LEADERSHIP

This trade makes zero sense for the Sabres. Plz. Take the loss and move on. As I'm about to do from this thread.

Perfect, Okposo and skinner for Marner.

Ok then move on but this deal really isn't as bad as you all think it is.

Okposo isn't good enough defensively, he's ok but not nearly as good as marner on defence

How? because all I've heard is that Tage scores more and he's younger

It's awful. Downright terrible. And I'd hazard to guess that 99.9% of the fans on this site (minus Leafs fans) would agree that it's awful for the Sabres.

But he does bring leadership that Marner doesn’t. That makes up for the difference.

You see how stupid that sounds in reverse right?

Aka he's better and more valuable? Don't forget he's on a great contract.

Yes Tage is younger and is vastly superior in the hardest part of the game. That should literally be enough to go ok I ****ed up, moving on.

Though I do see your point, The leafs would still need more defensive compensation. The leadership aspect is important but at the same time there isn't enough brought back defensively to make this deal worthwhile

The hardest part of the game is goaltending, not scoring. Again all I'm hearing is age and talent, again the talent isn't that far off and with the salary retention of Tavares the monetary value is much more balanced

JFresh data charts disagrees and shows defensive impact between Okposo and Marner is nearly equal. The reason Marner gets Selke votes and Okposo doesn’t is because Marner is also good at offense. But I’ve solved that for us.

Buffalo is giving offense in skinner, defense and leadership in Okposo
Tor is giving the younger talent in Marner AND it saves them money.

Complete ignoring years left on contract again. And money after the retention comes off the books for Tor, where Tage will still have one of the best value contracts in the league. This site has a bunch of Tor fans. Are you wondering why they aren’t flocking to defend this?

And if the hardest part is goaltending, how come we see more saves than goals? Seems a little backwards no?

Then give toronto a 2nd round pick to that way we aren't just taking aged talent

No, I started by making deals that I thought were funny, than shifted to make deals that I could see happening, I posted just to see what people would think but holy **** do you bent out of shape over a deal that has never and will never happen. I get being passionate but c'mon, not all did but you and maybe 1 or 2 other blew this mock trade WAY out of proportion.

And we more saves because Goalies faces 30 shots per games and naturally, not all will go in. and Goaltenders stats are beginning to drop again as scoring is becoming easier

Scoring is still the hardest aspect of the game, being a goalie is the hardest position to play. Different concepts

You’ve responded defending it just as much as I’ve responded to it. I’m bored today, so I’m filling my time here. If you don’t want the critique, don’t post it.

I'm killing time before I go to work, and it's not that I don't want criticism, it's just that this is being critiqued way too seriously. this is all hypothetical

How is scoring the hardest aspect of the game?

How is it not? There are five guys skating around trying to block your shots, knock you off the puck, or take your head off. You have to shoot hard enough to get it past a guy taking up 3/4 of the net and are more agile then ever, so being accurate is just as important as shooting hard. A quick look at even if it’s one v one (shootouts) show goalies save more than they let in. That would indicate it’s harder to score than save it even if you take out the control of other guys trying to stop you. I respect that being a goalie is the hardest position. But I feel like scoring kid the hardest aspect

Do you actually have the 3-mil retained factored into the cap? I don't see it? Unless I'm missing something?
