HanifIn turns 27 mid season. He doesn't fit into a 3+ year rebuild. Doubt he wants to extend with a rebuilder either.

Then they flip him at the deadline. Should be able to get a 1st and 2nd for him, which works for briere's ask of multiple picks.

It just doesn't work with TK being the one outgoing. We can hold onto him and hes still in his prime after our rebuild. Or we can flip him for multiple picks and give our youth playing time.

So you think Briere is going to trade his best asset in Konecny for the risk of flipping Hanifin in season? What happens if Hanifin gets injured?

He's 2 months younger them Hanifan so he's still in his prime after your rebuild by that logic. By then you have Tippett and Matvei probably passing him on the depth charts.

I realize Briere isn't in the same position that Ottawa was with DeBricant, but that's the closest comparable. This offers a lot more value then that. Hanifan has been pretty healthy over his career, he's not injury prone so it's not a huge risk.

The mere fact that Ottawa clearly lost in their DeBrincat experiment should be evidence enough that it is an unwise idea.

Did you not see what Ottawa got in return for DeBrincat?

The return for Konecny, 2 years left on the deal btw, Konecny could play for this entire year and still be worth more than what is returned in this deal.....it just is a terrible effort.

Plus look at Philadelphia's pipeline, lots of LDs there..eh?

They dont even have a spot for one of their best LD prospects Emil Andrae who might have to go back to Sweden because Sanheim, who is a LD, is immovable because he is signed for 8 ****ING years. The last thing Philly needs is another LD and on an expiring contract to boot.

Why would Hanifin want anything to do with Philly's rebuild? He's not re-signing there unless they offer him stupid money

Take out the 2nd Rd Pick from CGY's side, and I'd do a player-for-player swap.

That just be giving Knocney away then, not a chance Phili would do it.

He is 27 not 33, so that makes no sense, he will play for 8 more years likely and probably 5 more at a high level. If Flyers compete in 3 years, he will be a solid 2nd pair guy at least

Even in your best case scenario, it's still 3 years of his prime being wasted. Makes absolutely zero sense. Obviously given they're already trying to trade Sanheim their intentions are obvious.
