Granlund admittedly didn't see much time as a center for the Penguins last season, but he made Carter look good. Eller seemed to think he was brought in to be the center on a shutdown third line, and Dubas and Sullivan have echoed that. So I started there.
The buyout makes us cap compliant, frees space to keep all these goalies Dubas went out to sign, keep our prospects, avoids having to move a NTC player, and gives us depth on the roster without dealing with waivers. I do think you could swing Granlund if you ate half his salary and that Kyle could make some other deals here or there, but this is an easy move.
