I have a soft spot for MTL, obviously.
But in this exact format, I would go with ANA. Making room for 3 potential 1C is a fun problem to solve.

Ducks and CBJ. My three favourites on that list would Bedard, Thompson and Fanelli.

Yea. Sabres have two 7.2m centres locked up for seven years each. Just unfair to the other Atlantic division teams.

Disregarding the rest of these five teams, I would choose the Columbus trio.
Including the entire roster for each team, I'd choose Buffalo or Columbus (mainly because they have Patrik Laine). 🙂

Why is Montreal even on this list.

Unless you are trying to build a team that can win the draft lottery those three are horrible. Not a single top line forward or defenseman. Arguably you don't even have three top 6 guys.

Chicago is the obvious right answer.

Lol Norris is now consistently on many experts' lists of worst NHL contracts but you want him as a core piece? Have fun paying $7M to a third line center.

They are all horribly overrated. Anaheim themselves don't see Zegras as a center or a top line guy. (Just read the most recent leaks from the contract negotiations)

McTavish is a solid Callahan/Brown type heart and soul 2nd liner, nothing more.

Carlson could be good but again most players that profile like him become Kesler not Bergeron so likely looking at a high end 2C.

Rank:

ANA
CHI (hard carry by Bedard)
MTL (call me bias but if they all hit their potential which is what I’m assuming for this, you won’t have a 2nd line guy on the first line, which Krebs, Geekie, and Marchenko are 50-60 pt guys.
CLB
BUF
ARZ

You couldn’t be more wrong lol. Z is basically a 1st liner at 22-23 years old. McTavish will be crazy elite. Carlsson might be a Sundin, so 85ish pts, but that is still a top 10 center in the league

If we're choosing 3 it's Sandy not Norris

This exercise is to pick three forwards to build around, all of the players on the ACGM are forwards.

I have seen exactly zero experts list him as one of the worst contracts.

Wow, Norris really came on strong two seasons ago, with a not so good players surrounding him. Too bad he was out for virtually whole season.
I think he can certainly be full value for his contract. Stutzie and Norris IMO can be two fine centres for the Sens for the next what six years each.
I don't know why anyone what say he even has a poor contract.
