Why pay all that when CGY would be lucky to move that contract???

Huberdeau has a NMC. I could see this happening in a few years but not now.

And Im taking Hayton over Couturier. Hayton was incredible with his end of season line, is younger and fits their timeline better imo. Couts is still solid tho

Philly would take that, but the Coyotes would never offer that before they see Coots play healthy.

I’m not sure they would even take it after they have seen him play.

I would think that taking on Huberdeau’s ridiculously stupid contract would be considered compensation enough…no picks, prospects, or players needed!

Yeahhhhh that 1st trade doesn’t make Arizona better, and that second trade would be as dumb as Vancouver taking OEL’s contract. Hard pass

Why buyout ltir guys? Why add future ltir guys? Coyotes have a nice build going, if they hit the past two years of draft picks, this team is going to be legit rather soon. I would possibly bargain hunt some players that can be had for a 2nd or two, complement the blueline some. Maybe a gun up front, but nothing too drastic or anchors to block the kids coming. Maybe a short term dumba from ufa even.

Troll post?

I get you are a CGY fan and all, but no, not a troll post. Dom L has Hubby as the third WORST contract in the league. A winger, aged years 30-38, making $10.5m a year? All those years he will be in decline of his peak. Not great.

He's a player who relies on his hands more than his speed. He will age fine, very similarly to Wheeler probably. Wheeler has played 7 seasons since turning 30 and has put up 482 points in 503 games and was a PPG after the first 5 seasons.

Dom also called Jeff Skinner the 3rd worst contract a year ago but now he doesn't even make the top 10. Crazy how 1 good or bad season changes his rankings so much

If you are sure you can't spend that $10.5m better, cool, keep him.

Would be pretty hard to. UFA's always get a bit more than what they are probably worth. Look at Nylander, he's apparently looking for 10M and he's not as good as Huberdeau. Getting players on team friendly deals can really only be done with RFA's.

Even if they are close, Nylander going from 28-35 probably won't age as poorly as Huberdeau from 30-38.

Are they close though? Nylander just had a career year, he's a good player by I doubt he will ever hit 90 points. Huberdeau's hit the 90+ point mark twice and paced it 2 other times.

Regardless my point is valid. I would rather pay Huberdeau 10.5M to get 450-500 points over the next 5 years than 2 UFA's 5M and 5.5M to get 350 points over the same range.

Now if Calgary already had a guy doing that job I would consider otherwise but that is not the case here. 1 expensive player is more than manageable

500pts over the next 5 years....??? The guy had 55 with you last year on a roster that isn't getting better.

You yourself are going off Huberdeau's career year numbers, which he's broken 90 twice total, seen a HUGE drop in 79 games, and is at the age players decline.

You can't seriously think he's a 55 point player. Sutter literally played him on the 2nd powerplay unit and more than half the season with Lucic on his line

Broken 90 twice and paced 90+ 2 additional times. All of which were 4 of the last 5 seasons. Only an idiot would bet against a bounce back
