Description
Well I definitely assumed it wouldn't happen.

For Dubas to land Karlsson at $1.5M retained and only give up a 1st a 2nd and Nathan Legare (lol) AND move out DeSmith, Petry, Granlund and Rutta....

That's a hell of a trade lol

Montreal most likely flipping Petry as well.

I'm shocked frankly, I assumed EK would have more retention but I also didn't think Dubas could move out that much cap space at once rofl.

Sharks literally got a 1st round pick and that's all...

San Jose ownership probably just wanted out with the least amount of financial pain. That's what this deal tells me.

They didn't only get a first, they got superstar Mikael Granlund and Mike Hoffman as well

Yeah, and I definitely get that, they have potential for 3 firsts this year depending what happens with NJ.

But people were acting like EK was going to cost an arm and a leg and it cost a bunch of terrible players on shorter contracts and a 1st lol

I'M GIVING A BIG "I TOLD YOU SO" to everyone who flamed me for saying that SJ had all the leverage, the Pens don't have the pieces to make this happen. nobody wants those contracts and/or our prospects and we give up friggin Legare.

So a big flipping of the bird.

Big flipping bird to the few CHI, DET, ANA commenters. You know who you are...

Kudos to some SJS fans who realized the return Karlsson would get in this situation.

I didn't think SJ had a lot of leverage, but I still figured they'd get some prospects/additional picks.

This however.... woof lol

Leverage is everything and that's what I tried to bang home the entire time, but nobody wanted to listen.
