I can't see non-playoff VAN parting with a 2nd for UFA to be Brodie and I can;t see Ottawa (who has no cap space) giving a 2nd for Jarnkrot. probably not even a 3rd from either of those teams

And after all that, you have no quality 7th dman and possibly a 3rd line that isn;t very creative offensively or above average defensively, and without those unrealistic 2nds, the draft picks and TDL commodities are really low

I would do it in a heartbeat but it doesn't solve the cap space problem, it adds to it

I would trade Kubalik for a 2nd then, but after that? No clue. Don't want to pay to move Joseph, he is good defensively, has elite PK metrics and is not even overpaid if he scores 30 pts (which is exactly his career pace per 82 games)

He’s a horse, a very good skater, and great in front of the net and along the boards, but isn’t a creative distributor. He’s ok at it, but it is way down towards the bottom of his skill set.

Nope, you're underrating Hartman. Who is a middle-six capable forward that can play anywhere in a team's top 9 and is being payed like a 4th liner. He's one of the best value contracts in the league

Liljegren is a solid 3rd pairing defenseman, who has potential to be a solid #4 type of guy. But what value he currently has is going to pale in comparison to Hartman's, given Hartman's contract and the position he plays is more valuable.

Frankly, Guerin isn't trading Hartman straight up for Liljegren. Let alone ADDING. The pick is going the wrong way.

Liljegren is a #3 on alot of teams, like i said, underrating him severely.

He was a healthy scratch for half the playoffs and most leaf fans have him on the third pairing, hes a 5th year pro going into his last free RFA season, but hes not a third on a any good team YET.

A rebuilding club might have him in the top 4, but I think you're over estimating him at this point. (and theres a reason you're trading him, if he was a third on most teams, based on the age of toronto's defense, you'd keep him)

84% WAR at 77% comp according to jfresh, hes a very good defenceman

Not saying he CAN'T be, but based on his yr by yr ice time, the fact he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs, that hes entering his SIXTH pro season and probably not going to get top 4 in the leafs defense, which is not a great defense corps, or that in FIVE pro seasons hes played 141 nhl games with 41 pts isn;t an endorsement of saying he will keep progressing to become a good top 4 guy, saying hes a #3 on alot of teams is just not true.

If he was that good, why would toronto be moving him for a probable mid round 5th and an expiring third liner? (especially given the age of their defense and lack of quality prospects at the position)

cafriendly logic is insane, if it were my choice id keep him. He played top pairing for a vast majority of the year, keefe is moronic and healthied him, theres your explanation

True, just think alot of these moves, somewhat over estimate and under estimate at the same time.

I dont think a capped out OTT gives you a 2nd for Jarnkrot, and probably not a 3rd.
I dont think a non playoff VAN gives you a 2nd for Brodie, why would they if not to flip him for better (but hed have to stay healthy and play well on a bad club for them to get a better return than they just gave up)
If Jarnkrot and Bordie are worth high in the round 2nds, why is Peeke worth a low in the round 3rd TWO drafts away?

And you have 3 guys who can score on 3rd line, (albeit I think you're being overly hopeful on Holmberg), but none of them are puck carriers/passers.
Your 4th line has lot of beef, but no offensive help.
The defense is more than a bit hopeful? McCabe over Reilly on 1st pair, reilly on 2nd and peeke, whos only worth a late in the round 3rd TWO drafts away is 2nd pairing? And Timmins who doesn;t play defense without a quality 7th?
No quality/consistent/offensive depth, no 7th dman, and just 4 players under the age of 25, with no players of top 9/top 4 on the horizon. Moving your BY FAR best defensive prospect, and probably more picks than youre acquiring, paints a pretty weak picture moving forward
