Value wise this isn't too bad imo but New York needs to be absolutely sure that Nylander will re-sign.

Why are they not good trade partners?

Because the rangers have no cap and not giving up their young players for rental in Nylander. They can’t afford his extension either

The assumption is Nylander extends and his contact will be between $9M and $9.5M, The Rangers can afford that with the cap expecting to go up at least $4M.

This would give the rangers a much needed RW and a versatile player in Järnkrok

Rangers can't afford Nylander this year, and the trade suggested never mind next season.

This trade would be forcing the rangers to do 20 man roster all year lol while having goodrow as the 3C/LW

Not worth giving up two young pieces for Nylander and then extending him having five $8m+ players on the roster lol

There are ways to make it work This deal does not put them that much over and it could also be done without Järnkrok

its easier to replace the bottom 6 than it is to get top end talent

Not really lol they could bring in a replacement for chytil who falls short of replacing his stats and what he brings . And I’d prefer to keep Laffy over Järnkrok

You’re basically trying to strengthen the Leafs center depth which the rangers took care of. Now they need a top 9 winger

Lol and that bottom 6 immediately becomes garbage when you have goodrow centering the 3rd line
