Honestly a very interesting Idea for both clubs, I would target JBD though but Lassi Thompson for Sam Poulin would be a interesting swap

Yeah, they were drafted two spots apart in 2019, 19th and 21st. Both have been pretty solid in the AHL but haven't made it in the NHL yet. I would probably do this trade just for a change of scenery for the players.

Lassi has scored more in the AHL than Poulin has and he's a defenceman lol
I don't see this being a good trade for Ottawa from a pure value perspective

Potential wise I think they're about the same and in my opinion Ottawa could use a forward more than a defenseman right now.

No, JBD is a defensive RHD and in the team's plans (just signed 2 years to a 1 way contract). Thomson is not because he will require PP time and there is currently 13 guys on the roster who also require PP time lol

Also, as an asset, JBD is comfortably more valuable than Thomson and a lot more than Poulin too

Poulin has not been "pretty solid in the AHL"...

That said, if my scouting department agrees and sees that Poulin could play a role on the NHL team, could take a chance on him as there won't be a real opportunity for Thomson anyway

16 goals and 37 points as a 21 year old rookie in the AHL is definitely solid. He did have a down year this year though, but that was likely injury related.

Well that's where fans differ from GMs. Most fans just want to win the trade. GMs would see that there's no real place for their player and are willing to take a gamble on a player with a better fit even if the value may not be identical. I think Poulin does a lot more for OTT than Thomson, and vice versa.

Would you say Norris is a bad player because he only scored 3 points this season? Poulin was injured, he'll bounce back.

I never said he was done.

I was simply commenting on "have been pretty solid in the AHL", which means you were talking about what has happened already.

Well I wouldn't know as I don't watch Wilkes-Barre games but statistically... not really better than Cole Reinhardt 2nd season
