Zero chance of Calgary accepting that trade, Conroy will get a much better offer for Elias Lindholm elsewhere.

CGY declines. Lysell, DeBrusk, and a 1st Rd Pick might start the conversationthough... Lindholm is Bergeron lite and will cost a bit

Debate the return, but Lindholm isn't close to Bergeron at all

Start the conversation? That's better than what VAN got for Horvat.

I wouldn’t trade DeBrusk and Lysell for Lindholm. I like Elias, but I’m looking forward to see what DeBrusk does this year and I think people are sleeping on Lysell because he wore down

I want DeBrusk to stay long-term, but he also has to want to stay. If he tells Sweeney & Co. that he wants to go to FA, then I'd make him available in a deal. Idk if I'd say people are sleep on Lysell. I think many fans just know he's one of Boston's best trade chips and finding top 6 center's is harder than top 6 wingers. I will say that that my expectation for Lysell is to fighting for a roster spot in this camp. I'd say his competition right now is Boqvist, Greer & Brown. What works against Lysell is that he's still waiver exempt and Sweeney & Co have a history of shipping guys to Providence who don't require waivers even if they earned an NHL roster spot.

If that’s the case, then his trade value to Calgary would be lower and you wait until the trade deadline with a contender. He’s the type of asset that should warrant a first rounder at the trade deadline with some retention.

My belief is there should be some desire to lock in contractually and if that’s the case, DeBrusk should be a very valuable asset. My assumption is he’d be as willing, if not more willing, to sign here long term as Lindholm.

I fully anticipate that Lysell will start the year in Providence, but Sweeney won’t hesitate to expose one of the journeyman he signed for 800k or below if he starts the year like he likely will. He’s said as much in his press conferences. I’m open to trading him, but I’m not going to treat him like a thrown in when he likely will be more valuable if I wait.

I doubt Calgary gets a trade package that would be better than DeBrusk and Lysell from an upside perspective for them, but I’m very high on both players

If we are trading DeBrusk, I’d likely be offering Poitras because we will need Lysell

In DeBrusk I could see appeal for him to sign in CGY if he wants to be closer to home and Edmonton isn't an option for him.

I'm not moving Poitras. He projects to actually stick a center and was top 5 in OHL points last year. Boston is thin at center talent and we can't be trading it away.

I get the positional appeal of Poitras. He projects as a 2C and we need that.

It’s why I think a Lindstrom deal seems far fetched. I’m not sure we acquire a C without a goalie being in the deal. I probably value future first a bit more than others as well.

My assumption is DeBrusk will want to stay here now that Bruce is gone. We will see, but I have a hard time giving up a two way wing with his scoring potential at his age

Again it all depends on what DeBrusk wants. If he wants to stay in Boston, great sign him to a long-term team and make him part of your new core. If he doesn't have an interest in staying then you make him available in a deal that helps your team.
