Deal. this could let the Habs try Suzuki as a RW and really help Chytil as a C. You could even drop the Ty Emberson guy for all I care. Unless its for roster spot issues

The Mantha deal is definitely interesting. Other 2 are instant declines.

I like Goodrow, but $15m real money and a 4 year commitment to buy a late 1st round pick? Maybe a bit less in the end, 11-13m with a buyout down the line (which other players usually aren't happy to see). What have other teams paid in actual cash for a 1st round pick? Also Grier just showed how important cap flexibility is for him, and for 4 years this would eat into a good chunk of the salary cap he just freed up with the Karlsson trade.

Maybe if we were to move Sturm or Kunin in a separate deal to free up a roster spot and some cash, otherwise he's just kind of redundant on the vet side and a few years down the line he's just taking up space from guys like Bordeleau/Bystedt/Robbins trying to break into the league.

Not saying its impossible, but I don't think its a slam dunk either.

Not sure why would the Rangers part with Chytil for Dvorak. Could see more a Goodrow Dvorak swap with New York adding pick or prospect but Chytil isn’t moving unless they had a solid centerman that will help them for years.

If Chytil continues to look more like a LW than a C doesn’t he become expendable? You have Panarin, Laf, and Kreider, not to mention Othmann and Cuylle coming into the team as LWs.

    3 hard passes.
Goodrow doesn't "have to go" lol. He is our bottom 6 glue and is needed this year. Next year we'll simply retain 800k-1.3m and GM's would pay a 2nd+ for him easy instead of an expensive ufa.
Chytil is a giant kid who is solid, will improve, with NYR, as a centre. Sure, he's not good at faceoffs. If he doesn't get meaner this year, his cap may be traded eventually.

Yes he would but if he is a left winger than Mtl would necessarily need him either.

How are they going to put the best team on the ice with a 4C making that much? You gotta pay Laf and after that you’re going to be down to peanuts for the cap.

    1 Cap relief

2 A true 3C in Dvorak who would be very affordable at that cap hit.

    Chytil & Goodrow >>>>>> Dvorak & Mantha.
    Nevermind the 1st & 5th.
In reality Chytil is only a C. Bad at faceoffs, yet only good at C and should only improve.
Also Goodrow doesn't need a fresh start lol. Finally healthy, important part of our group yet 800k overpaid

Sure. I just don’t think they need to add a sweetener. Goodrow’s skillset is valued around the league contrary to opinion here.

cap relief isn't necessarily needed, especially at the cost of a 1st.
Chytil is the better player, Dvorak just wins more faceoffs...

If Chytil settles in as a C this season then I’d say this trade is an easy no for NY.
