Jets would need a 1st if we're retaining on demelo and Smith is the compensation for Carter who will not waive. Pittsburgh doesn't make sense for demelo as he's worth around a 1st at the deadline and Pittsburgh already traded the 2024 pick.

Flyers wouldn’t trade with Penguins but even if we did, an AHL player isn’t gonna do it

Sharks pass, half retained Duclair should get at least a 2nd if not 1st, not a C prospect and bottom 6 forward

Carter doesn't waive and the Jets some need Smith, so Winnipeg won't be helping Pittsburgh out for free.

Really hoping the Sharks stop trading with PIT, NJD, and CAR for a while.

Carter isnt going anywhere. He has a NMC. Duclair would cost significantly more than that offer. Pickering is not getting move, Dubas made him untouchable in the Karlsson trade talks so why would he send him, along with a young forward with promise, for lesser players. The Monahan deal seems fine, although he is often injured so I might not want to target him.

I don't think the Sabers would retain on a player. I'm sure another team would.

An AHLer is pretty poor compensation for retaining for a rival. I'd rather it just be a gamble on a third round pick instead.

The only one of these trades that stands a snowball's chance is the Monahan trade.......... and even then that's slight upgrade in the bottom 6 so why give up a 3rd?
