Those don't make sense if the Sabres want to:
1) Maximize the offensive talents of Krebs, who's proven he's now defensively responsible but hasn't had much opportunity to produce offensively;
2) Maximize whatever unlocked talent Granato seems to believe Greenway has - Jost is nowhere near the playmaker or defensive presence as Krebs is;
3) Minimize Olofsson's 5-on-5 defensive deficiencies while maximizing his goal-scoring abilities - as stated above, Krebs is the better option for him on both counts;
Given how Jost was scratched or benched for games down the stretch and was a last minute re-signing, compared to Krebs being seen by Adams and Granato as part of their core with likely an extension next summer, swapping Jost and Krebs as you suggest doesn't seem logical or realistic with what management will do.
That said, I don't doubt that Granato will resort at times in the season to a Girgensons-Krebs-Okposo trio late in games when he's trying to protect a lead.
Who says the Sabres value “maximizing Krebs offensive talent” over having him Center our best defensive line?
Girgs & Okposo ARE going to play a defensive role
Do u really think Jost is a fit as the Center of the line that goes up against other teams best?
I don’t
And i don’t think u do either, as u don’t seem high on Jost
And in your own words, u recognize Krebs defensive acumen
Our “defensive line” matter way more than our 3rd scoring line
It’s also gonna see much more icetime
And, it puts Greenway & Olofsson into limited roles with less icetime- like they belong
It’s not ideal,
but our lineup is still a work in progress
And unless we bring in another “defensive” Center,
I don’t see them taking Krebs out of that role
