RHN isn't waiving after agreeing to take a reasonable offer from Edmonton.

Ullmark > Campbell, No way is Boston taking on Jack Campbell and Linus Ullmark doesn't waive for Edmonton.

RNH flexes his NMC, so you can take him out.
Ullmark likely has Edmonton on his NTL so you can take him out.
Bruins have no use for Campbell with Ullmark saying no to EDM so you can take him out.

Ya this ones pretty much nuked from both sides.

I firmly believe Oilers would have bad karma trading our beloved Nuge, especially after he took a discount.
From a hockey perspective though, Nuge going to Boston and Carlo coming to Edmonton would be a win-win for both teams, especially if the Oilers signed Tatar. Carlo isn't elite, but he's solid defensively, and could compliment Nurse really well.

Carlo's Rels v Elites aren't as good as Ceci's.

Edmonton isn't trading Nugent-Hopkins for that.

I'm betting on a bounceback season for Ceci. Was playing injured the whole year. That being said, I still think we need another RH D to push us over the hump.

I think they'll run

Nurse-Ceci
Ekholm-Bouchard
Kulak-Broberg

Any acquisition would cut into Broberg's ice time, which he needs in order to take the next step. I'm not sure that would be productive... unless you're talking about moving Kulak out simultaneously and moving Broberg over to the left. I don't have a problem with that, as long as the RD you acquire is both better and cheaper than Kulak.

IDK if Broberg has what it takes to take the next step (I hope I'm wrong). And if he does, I don't think it would be next season. We're in our cup window now, so I'd much rather trade Broberg if we can find a RH D for the top 4.
PS I hope we don'tmove Kulak. Performed so well for us in the last 2 playoffs runs, and can play limited second pair minutes if need be.

Hmm... 21 year old who posted a 58.65 xGF% playing 3rd pairing doesn't have what it takes to play 3rd pairing as a 22 year old? It's not even the next step - it's literally what he already proved he could do last year.

You're missing my point. We need someone who can play top 4 minutes, not someone who's going to play 3rd pair minutes with a good xGF%. Broberg excelling on the third pair doesn't help us win now, he needs to excel in the top 4, which I don't think he's capable of doing next season.

Kulak doesn't play top-4 either though? I'm not sure what your point is.

As of right now (our window of winning a cup) Kulak is a better player than Broberg. I never said he's a top 4 dman, but can play up the lineup if need be (2022 playoffs against the kings when Nurse was suspended or 2023 playoffs against Vegas when Nurse was suspended). You mentioned trading Kulak and moving Broberg over to the left side, that's not helping our defense right now, if anything it makes it worse.

All I was saying was we need a top 4, RH D, because that would transform our d to the below, which is good for a contending team, like us.

Nurse-X
Ekholm-Bouchard
Kulak-Ceci
Desharnais

It sounds like your hesitant on making any changes to our defense, because it would compromise Broberg's development, which we don't have the patience for right now.

Signing Bouchard caps Edmonton out. There will be no trade for another top 4 D unless LTIR shenanigans come into play.

I find it amusing that you don't have patience for Broberg excelling in your top 4 right now because "We're in our Cup window now" but apparently you believe one of your two goalies can provide "We're in our Cup window now" goaltending.

At the same age, and with easier deployment, Vince Dunn posted a 52.77 xGF%. I bet St. Louis wishes they'd kept him.

Yes because a Skinner/Campbell tandem is far worse than the last 2 goalies who won cups...........

I genuinely hope you're going to prove me wrong and Broberg breaks out, but I just can't see it happening in the next 1-2 years.

They don't really need him to though. He's basically the internal replacement for Ekholm who has several good years left (I hope!). Until then they just need him to be one of the best 3rd pairing defensemen in the league, which he has already shown isn't an unrealistic expectation.
