If Pesce would sign that, he'd be extended. He wants 8 years and at least 7 and he's going to get is somewhere... and for an extended Pesce, swap Kisakov with Rosen

I think you overvalue Pesce for then Sabres and a six year contract starting at the age of 30.....well that may not be so good for the Sabres.

Send out the Carrier Pigeons. Could really balance out the D pairings.
Dahlin Pesce
Power Clifton
Samuelsson Johnson
Might be the best 6 we have had in, Damn got to be 15yrs.

With 2 first overall picks (3 if you wanna count johnson, but at 35, I dont), adding pesce would be the best Sabres d ever. You might have to do an all time Sabres team to beat that. Let's see- Ramsey, Housley, Schoenfeld, korab, zhitnik, and I'll say McKee. The 2023/4 Sabres certainly have crazy talent, just have to put it together on the ice. That's of course if pesce were to find his way here.

To put it simply,
It’s just wishful thinking that’s VERY unlikely to happen

If he was willing to accept a lesser deal,
Carolina would’ve signed him by now

Maybe we can revisit if he becomes a UFA & can’t find the deal he wants???

Oh I get it. I don't think there's gonna be any changes before the season starts, unless it's something pretty small.

Canes would not get added value for any kind of extension. They would take no part in it.

Sabres should pass. Too much money and assets

They should if he's getting an extension he would rather have in a lower tax state on a team closer to winning the cup lmao

But his extension would be with Buffalo, not with Canes.

And? If Buffalo are going to be allowed to talk to him before a trade about his extension, this price goes up

That would be dumb move for Canes, tbh.

Why? If they can jack up the price, they should do it. Pesce's contract demands are already public, so may as well.

So being Canes GM you go with - Pesce for that and that, but if you want to talk extension beforehand with him, price rise up to that. Then Sabres disconnect, because someone is unreasonable.
Canes are losing leverage every day.

What? Canes just won't move him if you don't pay the price. They're not over the cap, they're undoubtedly a much better team with Pesce. They're not loosing leverage at all. Unless you pay the price, you don't get Pesce. End of conversation.

If they are to trade him, they are losing leverage. If they are to extend him, they are losing leverage (he is not getting 8 yrs). If they keep him for 2023/24 - good for them, he is good player.

He'll get 8 years, there are GM's stupid enough to do it. I'm looking at Lamiorello specifically

Canes are not giving him 8 yrs. No one is trading anything significant for 28 yrs old players with 9 yrs contract, so Canes will play him in 23/24 and let him walk in UFA, which he will gladly test, with cap supposedly going up 3 mil.

Carolina might now, but that doesn't mean at the draft someone like Lou doesn't come calling and say they want Pesce for 8 years. Especially if he becomes a Stanley Cup winning defensemen this season which is not unrealistic.

Minute after winning cup, Pesce becomes UFA. If only Islanders are interested, that's even less leverege. And NYI will not be interested, by looking at their defense.

Are you nuts? If Carolina win the cup, you think they have less leverage? A Stanley Cup winning top pairing defenseman becomes available and you don't think the canes hold all the cards? This conversations over, you're talking out of your backside.
