It's crazy to me how quickly Krug fell off after going to STL.

It’s not really falling off. Look at his season last year. He was also injured 2/3rds of this season. His contract is just pretty large for a guy that has never been great defending 5v5. The Blues as constructed don’t have a LD to be able to be put in that role, nor do they have a RD aside from Parayko who can play above average in the defensive zone. It led to a large amount of issues with our backend last year. Krugs point production is still good. +\- for a lot of Blues guys was brutal when they were out with an extra attacker. I think we were like -25 in that regard.

Most of us and apparently our FO want to move him because we cannot sustain having 3 offensively tilted defenseman and lack of proven cheap minute munchers. We need his salary out to try and get that to pair with Parayko to balance our defense.

its not just krug thats causing the jam, scandella is hard to move because no one really knows what he looks like right now because of how long hes been out, leddy is hard because hes getting way overpayed with term and no team wants to take that on.

one of them has to be moved or injured (to be placed on LTIR) if we are going to get anything done

To be honest with you, I’d imagine Leddy is the most movable of our whole group. He’s coming off of a really good season comparative to what was expected. 4m isn’t exactly a back breaker especially for a guy who was used in a top pairing shutdown role (although it’s not where he’s best suited). I don’t think the Blues as much as the fan may hate how vanilla his skill set is have much interest in moving him. Scandella probably doesn’t draw hardly any interest, however, his contract isn’t back breaking to us. I don’t particularly like his game, but he’s the exact type of defenseman that assuming he logs a decent amount of minutes this season will get moved to a competitive team as a bottom pairing/depth option at 50% for probably a 3rd or a 4th.

Our log jam cap wise has a lot to do with paying two similar guys in terms of strengths albeit a different way of getting there the same contract long term in Faulk and Krug. Faulk certainly does a bit better 5v5 but we don’t have the correct personnel to be able to have him and Krug nor do we have ann immediate or relatively near term replacement for him. Like we do in Perunovich.

I know leddy isn't awful but part of it is a lot of fans still have sore feelings from taking him over resigning perron (whos still a decent enough producer)
