Habs decline. Olausson isn’t worth wasting our last retention spot

Girard is a good player and that return is fair, but I don’t think ANA is a good partner for him. They’ve got 3 RD now, but more importantly they already have 2 undersized dmen as key parts of their core for the future between Drys and Zell. I don’t see another undersized Dman as a good fit

Exactly, plus we don’t need him clogging up the way for Mintyukov and Zellweger

And, Savard easily gets better at this deadline or the next TDL. No point rushing it. Depends on Mailloux development this season.

Anaheim is cornering the market on terrible bottom pair D this offseason.

Silverberg isnt worth trading Girard and Kovalenko is already going to get a spot at the TDL. Savard is an awful fit and has just been crushed metric wise the last two years. Hanafin retained is going to cost more than that.

That’s awful return value for Girard, Silverberg is a shadow of what he use to be. That being said you are right that ANA has young dmen that they have coming and it doesn’t seem to be a good fit for them.

Lol I should clarify. When I say it’s fair, I’m looking at it from the ANA pov. Silf may not play in the NHL again after this contract ends, and even half retained he might be negative value. It’s basically a 2nd and 3rd. But yes, the bad fit comment I feel reasonably confident about

Setting aside the trade value for a second: none of these make sense for Colorado:

- Silfverberg is pretty bad now. You’re trading a big minute defenseman with term for a pending UFA wing who wasn’t particularly productive last year.

- Evans and Savard are fine enough players but I’m not sure why you would spend $1.7M each on players at the bottom of your lineup. You’re in a cap crunch, 4th liners and your 6/7D should be making less than that.

- Hanifin is really good. I really like the player. But you have him playing on the bottom pair here. Wasn’t the whole point of moving Girard so you could add additional support at forward? And now Hanifin will be due a pay raise in UFA.

This ACGM basically just gets rid of Girard and only adds expensive depth and UFAs that the Avs will struggle to replace.

100% agree with the points about trading Girard, or even Toews, tbh. The hole that it opens on D requires COL to use whatever return it gets to simply fill the hole on D. Makes no sense.

Don't see why any of the non-Colorado teams would do these.
