Not much of a goalie market right now. Canes have 3 goalies, so do the Flames, and no ones biting. Adding Montreal to the pile of teams trying to sell off goalies, and the worse one at that, isn't going to add much interest.

CBJ do need depth G, but are looking for someone that they can shuttle between the NHL and AHL without waivers/claim threat in the event that Elvis or Tarasov go down with injury. DeSmith might make some sense, but I don't know that you'll get even a 2026 4th from us. The alternatives are a current UFA for free, like Hutchinson (who filled the role last year), Halak, Elliot, or even JF Berube (who filled that role spectacularly for a few games in 2021-22.

I would love to bring in halak but hes on the record saying he doesn't want a 3G spot and has to be 2G to sign. Now in a month from now or 2 maybe his tone changes. I would really like to get him in that 3G spot for the next two years so he can work with Ivanov when he gets over here as an undersized mobile goalie that made a solid NHL career.
