We will just give that offer to him as a free agent next off season

Leaf fans are delusional thinking Anaheim is paying all that for Willy LOL

How about as soon as the 2023-2024 season is over, we give you that third for sole negotiating rights to Willie, and then sign him to that deal on July 1, 2024?

It was an idea brought up by Mike Rupp on the NHL Network not Leafs fans lol

But I don't think the Leafs will sign comtois because he's involved in that sa case with the junior hockey team but could easily sign a similar player

Hilarious how little you know about hockey.

Remind me why Debrincat and PLD got returns when LA or Detroit could have just got them as UFAs next year?

DeBrincat was an RFA stupid. And he had publicly stated he wasn’t signing with Ottawa and Detroit didn’t even have to give up much for him, in fact, Ottawa got even less in return then what they paid for him the previous off-season

He was an RFA in his last year of control, he would have been a UFA next summer.

Do you not know how RFAs work?

Debrincat's situation this summer was no different to Nylanders. If anything the Leafs are in a better position cause Nylander can just sit out next year. But both players would have been UFAs next year unless they sign extensions.

Nylander is a literal UFA heading into the following summer, Toronto has almost no leverage over the situation if Nylander doesn’t want to comeback

Yes and you do understand that last summer Thachuck could have sign his QO and been in the same position. This summer PLD and Debrincat could have signed their QOs and been in the same position all one season away from walking to UFA.

The leafs are in a better negotiating position than any of those teams were cause the player can't also threaten to sit out the upcoming year.

By your logic Hertl should have had no value this year. Nobody was gonna give him $10.5M a year so he was effectively a pending UFA.

Literally because they were both RFAs, and Nylander isn't.

I don't want to argue. If you want me to teach you why you are wrong let me know otherwise you can be happy with the knowledge you have.

I really don't think Buddy knows the difference between UFA and RFA. He'll probably throw another temper tantrum after reading this.

I didn’t come up with it. Mike Rupp did.

Mike Rupp is turning into Kypreos. A former NHL player who pretends to be an "insider." Careful with guys like these trying to make names for themselves.

Friedman is as credible as it gets. But even he starts sentences with "I'm wondering if..."

Yzerman grinded Dorion into the ground with that trade. But he had all the leverage. Dorion got what he could. But when a pending RFA tells you he isn't signing long term with you and that he'll only agree to sign a long term extension with 1 team, what can you do?

I just don't like it when opinions become rumors. Because fans run with it and it spreads quickly on places like CFACGM.

Look at the recent made up rumor from Eklund? Anyone with a brain knew his Nylander to Isles rumor was complete fiction.

Yet it's still being discussed 3 days later. 🤔
