Ideal 2025-2026 Core

Created by: Renegade_H
Team: 2023-24 Philadelphia Flyers
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 23, 2023
Published: Aug. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Cap space upped to 92M for 2025-2026 season.

1 mock draft spin on Tankathon put Flyers at 6. Sam Dickenson is the pick.

When 2025-2026 comes around, Grubauer will have 2 more years. Flyers can designate him to AHL.
Wright isn't going to be top line talent. Probably second line. I know SEA holds him dear, but they are so close to winning. Laughton and Hart give them a better 2 yr window than Wright imo.

Looking at OTT lineup, I see a hole in RW second line. TK fills that and gives Batherson more time to develop. Gotta strike when G is still serviceable. TK and G work well together on PP as well.

  1. Grubauer, Philipp
  2. Wright, Shane
  3. 2024 1st round pick (SEA)
  4. 2025 2nd round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
Taking on Grubauer contract would take a 1st. Hart and Laughton for Wright and a 2nd... Flyer fans may not like it but we need more elite young talent.
SEA
  1. Hart, Carter
  2. Laughton, Scott
Additional Details:
This move solidifies Seattle for Cup run imo. Laughton leadership and flexibility and adding Hart to a good defense.
SEA
2.
PHI
  1. Greig, Ridly
  2. 2024 1st round pick (DET)
  3. 2024 4th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
I imagine OTT will look at Debrincat trade in order to qualify TK. RFA status and retained salary will help OTT top end. Batherson to 3rd line probably helps him and their bottom six with TK in second line.
OTT
  1. Konecny, Travis ($1,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Most flyers fans probably wont like this but adding Greig and picks helps our timeline.

Gruby was good in the playoffs, I think this is a little to expensive for Seattle because of that

Yeah there’s no way either of those teams accept. The values are fine but those are the teams and players that would do it

SEA declines. This trade is ludicrously bad for SEA. There are 2 primary issues with this. 1. Grubauer has a NTC this year, and the a M-NTC for the rest of his contract. There is a snowballs chance in hell that he waives to go to Philly, so that kills the deal there. 2. Hart would be an upgrade, I won't argue that, but Laughton is completely unnecessary given SEA's lineup. In SEA's lineup, Laughton would likely be on the 3rd line, but Tolvanen was scoring at a similar pace and is 6 years younger, so he still is growing into a better player. Additionally, SEA just drafted Sale, who is also a LW. SEA has no need for a middle 6 winger, when the current middle 6 is as strong as it is.

Even with all of this, the package of Wright, a 1st, and 2nd is something SEA would pay for Hellebyuck or Saros, not Hart and an unnecessary depth piece for SEA in Laughton. SEA has no reason to give up on a potentially franchise player in Wright after a year of him playing at a pro level for a slim chance to win. As much as I still savor the playoff win against COL, there is no denying that SEA played a weakened COL considering all of the injuries they had, so SEA is still a couple of years from being true contenders. No need to rush it.

I dont see Sale being in NHL in next two years but if there is no rush... yeah sure the trade doesnt work well. I wouldn't say its ludicrously bad, but if you dont have a win now mindset... probably doesn't work.

They’d have to send out Kubalik , Brannstrom and Joseph.

RF doesn't trade 1st round picks. Hart and Laughton aren't the guys that are going to get him to give up one now.

I think many people feel the need for everything to be the worst thing they have ever seen, I think this is good in concept just too expensive for Seattle

I wouldn’t trade Greig for Konecny 1 for 1 and I doubt Dorion would too. Keeping their projectables young players is basically one of the few things they have done well. Greig is going to be an excellent 2-way player in the Jaden Schwartz, not trading him in his cost controlled years. Exactly the type of player they need right now, much more than a more expensive Konency that would add to the cap problems and the « how do we share PP time exactly? » problem

He wasn’t available for Chychrun (and DeBrincat I believe) so not going to be available here

Yeah so while Konecny is better now, downgrading 3 quality support players just to fit Konecny would be quite stupid
