Description

Leafs Defence is really, really, really not good, trade Nylander for defencmen and that gets better, still not sure why this hasn’t happened, I know he is a better play off performer than Matthews/Marner, but Bertuzzi and Domi should help, not to mention they are both defensively liable, and with Nylander that’s 3 terrible defensive forwards. If Bertuzzi or Domi play on the second line, and if someone like John Klingberg is the defensemen, it’s all offence no defence. Replacing Nylander with a much cheaper maybe a little hit better defensively forward, and a number 1/2 right defensemen

Nylander signs extension likely around 8/9.5m

Of course not, Treliving and Willy want the same thing and the deal will be signed hopefully before the season starts. It would be wise to do so though because I bet Willy has a huge year. 90+ points and over 40 goals again.

The hart part with nylander to the wild is they can’t afford his cap at all. You’d need to drop the 1st because they might need that assets to free up the 5m in cap space before the season starts.

They really would make our job as GM easier if we knew who are on all the NTC lists! Just saying. The only teams I can think of having the room and possibly not on his NTC and are also possibly looking to try compete are ANA, NSH, and CHI. But even those teams need to do more then just Nylander to really compete. So it makes a Nylander trade almost impossible because the NTC and salary cap and his contract issues. So all we can do is throw out total speculations at this point without more facts to back up our opinions.

It does, while also putting the Wild like $3.5m or so over the cap with a 20 man roster. These ACGMs just keep getting worse and worse.

If only there was a site that contained the information needed to research the various NHL team's salary cap situations. Someone should get on that, I bet a lot of hockey fans would spend tons of time on it.
