Kidney and Mailloux are each atleast a year away from getting a real shot in the NHL and both have reasonable question marks as to what their ceiling will be, the firsts are probably going to be top 10 and top 15 respectfully given the habs trajectory, the asset value long term is an overpay from the habs side, but in the short term its essentially a massive downgrade for Buffalo from Tuch to Anderson going into a year will they are going to be as competitive as they have ever been in the past 10-15 years. All around makes no sense for either side.

Why would Buffalo trade their cap friendly hometown talent?

Can't fathom either team doing this. Really makes zero sense no matter which way you look at it.

No, it’s not possible
Tuch is likely to be the Sabres next Captain, he’s not going anywhere

I am not surprised by your comments. It is what I expected. The only person to respond with reasonable rational is our friend Habs_need_scoring.

This trade proposal is an overpay when comparing to the Timo Meier trade. I am surprised that many of you have not realized that. Fans will always be Fans and protect their own.

Why do you always post not reasonable and unrational trades ?

As a GM do you make this trade. If you were the Sabres GM, do you make this trade. Do you believe the Sabres are a playoff team today or do you make the trade today to definitely improve your team for a true playoff run in 3 years. Tage and Cousins are young. I would do the trade as a GM. Mailloux will be a Top4 D (he needs to improve his defensive play). Riley will be a 2 or 3C or even better a RW in the mold of Mariner (amount of point per season to be seen, he has great vision on the ice and develops plays). The picks will be Top 10. Anderson is a filler for 3 seasons. This is a no brainer.

My 2 cents

No one said anything about the value of the package, just that the Sabres won't be trading tuch at all. Literally no reason to even think about trading him. He's a good hockey player, from buffalo, a good leader, has a low cap hit, etc.

These two comments sum it up completely.
This is an over pay for Tuch, but Tuch WANTS to be in Buffalo and Buffalo wants him so he will not be traded even for an over pay.
Tuch makes the players around him better, Skinner, Thompson AND Mittlestadt all had career years playing with him.
In a vaccum it is a no brainer to make the deal, but looking at how much Tuch wants to play for the Sabres it is a bigger no brainner to not make the deal.
He is not going anywhere.

And why MTL would do this ? MTL are rebuilding, bottom 5 team. Bringing Tuch doesn’t makes us a top 20 teams, we are still at the bottom of the league
Logan Mailloux has a lot to put together before becoming a top 4 defenseman in the NHL.
Riley Kidney’s game won’t translate to the NHL IMO
He might even start in the ECHL

MTL & BUF has no reason to do this deal, because it doesn’t make sense

Rebuilding teams needs prospects & draft picks, competitive teams need players that can help now

HABS need a Ist Line RW who can score and there are not many available in the NHL. The proposal accelerates the HABS rebuild because they have a plethora of prospects they can trade for such a player. He would complete the line with Suzuki and Caufield.
