That's before we get into what the Hawks actually need.

It's still a Seth Jones 2.0 trade. I'm not a fan of the Hawks trading assets away at this point in time. I can 100% understand a TOR fan coming on here and being confused by my comment. Nylander is the best player in that trade FOR SURE. It's just not the right direction IMO for the Hawks. Keep the picks. Sign a UFA next year. Trust the process. Don't jump for shiny objects.

And I don't think Nylander signs for $8.8M per.

Asking price is fine, but Wings are not spending rest of their Cap space on another LD.

This isn't a TO fan. If it was, he would understand Nylander is worth a lot more than a 30 year old defenceman who wasn't as good as Mccabe is (who really isn't that good either) and a likely middle 6 depth forward.

Hawks would just wait for free agency if they wanted to overpay Nylander. Hope they don't bother though.

Has Reaves ever been a 3rd line player? I don't think so. Trading Jarnkrok for a draft pick would give you around 6.6M in cap space to upgrade your RW.
