Drop the 3rd COL isn’t paying more for Jarnkrok than Seattle did for Bjorkstrand and they are helping TML with their cap issue.

Jarnkrok wouldn't be the worst addition for the Avs but his cap hit is prohibitive imo. The Avs aren't likely to use all their remaining cap space on him and put themselves in basically the same position as the Leafs. Lafferty and/or Timmins works better for the Avs. Not sure if it works for the Leafs.

Jarnkroke would be a good idea and I think that's a ok value trade but his salary is too much for us to handle rn

if retention was possible (either through 3rd team or Leafs have to take a bit) would it be better?

This is another fair value trade that I don't think the Avs are doing. We might consider it if the price were lower, but frankly I don't think we are running a 21 man roster which is what this deal would have us do. With Kovalenko coming over likely right before the playoffs, it does create an interesting scenario where we might be able to flip Jarkrok at the deadline. That's the only reason I see to do this trade.

Retention would start the conversation, that's for sure.
