I always see "rumors" in the title without sources

If the rumor you're referring to is this article: https://thehockeywriters.com/capitals-stars-perfect-trade-partners-for-kuznetsov/

Then its not much of a rumor and it doesn't make sense. It simply suggests a trade (important to note that it's supposed to occur near the deadline) in which Washington trades a 50% retained Kuznetsov (already a dealbreaker) to Dallas for Mason Marchment, Antonio Stranges, a 2024 1st round pick, and a 3rd round pick.

This is the only thing I could find regarding Kuznetsov and Dallas, and it's not really a rumor or reliable, just one person throwing things at a wall and hoping it sticks.

Caps pass. That Seguin deal is real bad. Even if Kuz is done, at least Caps are finished with him soon. Seguin puts them with a worse contract for longer.

Seems bad for both sides tbh. I’d do it from the Dallas side just to get rid of the extra years on Seguin’s deal tho. Nothing against Seggy he just isn’t what he was when he signed that deal due to injuries. I do think he can be a strong contributor for the remainder of his deal but he’ll never be worth that kind of money
