Nylander to Every Team Part 14

Created by: fangm
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 6, 2023
Published: Sep. 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Every trade assumes nylander agrees an extension prior to the trade (we know the Leafs will give him permission to do so because they asked him if he'd negotiate an extension with the Coyotes and he said NO).

If I didn't specifify the package going the other way then its just Nylander alone.
Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Henrique, Adam
  2. McTavish, Mason
Additional Details:
McTavish's ceiling is lower than where Nylander is now.
Ducks would still have Zegras-Carlsson down the middle and now Nylander as an elite #1 winger to play with them.
ANA
2.
TOR
  1. Keller, Clayton
Additional Details:
We already know Arizona accepted this conditional on Nylander extending so now that I'm assuming for these trades he's agreeing an extension the deal goes through.
ARI
    Nylander + Minten +2nd
    3.
    TOR
    1. Carlo, Brandon
    2. Grzelcyk, Matt
    Additional Details:
Isn't much else on this team that should interest the Leafs. McAvoy is untouchable. Carlo is the next best think. Boston has the depth on D to do this with Forbot, Lindholm, McAvoy, Shattenkirk, Zobril, Timmins making a solid top 6 and that doesn't even include Wotherspoon, Regula and Mitchell who can be 6/7 guys.
    BOS
      Nylander + Timmins + Jarnkrok
      4.
      TOR
      1. Samuelsson, Mattias
      2. Skinner, Jeff ($1,000,000 retained)
      Additional Details:
I just don't see a reasonable trade here. Buffalo has so many great young players, there is no need to skip the line and trade for Nylander, if they did I think this is about the only deal that could make sense.
      BUF
        Nylander + Brodie
        5.
        TOR
        1. Dubé, Dillon
        2. Hanifin, Noah
        Additional Details:
I'm assumign Hanifin agrees to resign. Then this deal makes loads of sense for both teams.
        CGY
        6.
        TOR
        1. Chatfield, Jalen
        2. Drury, Jack
        3. Jarvis, Seth
        4. Nikishin, Alexander [Reserve List]
        Additional Details:
Leafs go for quantity over quality here and restock the farm a bit.

Pesce has Toronto on his No-Trade so those rumours are just annoying. Don't see anyone but Slavin as a fit but Carolina won't move him.

This trade would have to be part of something bigger where Carolina sells one of their D.
        CAR
        7.
        TOR
        1. Johnson, Tyler
        2. 2024 1st round pick (TBL)
        3. 2025 2nd round pick (DAL)
        4. 2026 2nd round pick (TOR)
        Additional Details:
Makes sense for Chicago if they see him playing with Bedard. Chicago has lots of prospects and retooled quickly, so I assume they move some later picks instead of those prospects.
        CHI
        8.
        TOR
        1. Lehkonen, Artturi
        2. O'Connor, Logan
        3. 2024 1st round pick (COL)
        Additional Details:
Lots of peopel think this will be for a D. I think if Colorado does this its as an upgrade upfront. Coming back the other way is a pick and some lesser forwards.

Sabres ain't trading from a position of weakness for a player they don't need. Especially not trading Sammy

        Power/Dahlin? You call that weakness.

Outside of those two and Samuelson, their defense is the greatest

McTavish has higher upside than Nylander. He’ll be close to a PPG player playing C vs Nylander on the wing.

I’d rather have 5 years of Keller at $7.1m, than 1 year of Willy’s bargain contract and then 8 years of whatever absurd number he wants

there has been nothing from AZ side that they were open to trading keller for nylander - the reports were TML approached nylander about extension and he declined. idk if AZ was open or not to it, id hope not.

Yeah Keller is untouchable, they’ll never move him unless he point blank says he’s done here.

        @wojme is absolutely correct
But let’s not go too overboard at @fangm
He actually had a pretty levelheaded take, in thinking that a Nylander to Buffalo trade “wasn’t reasonable”

        And as @fangm (basically) said,
we frankly just have way too much offensive forward talent to be interested in Nylander

And to the point wojme made,
Samuelsson is too important a part of our defense
He’s been a great partner for Dahlin, & there just isn’t a reason to break them up & restart the 3year cycle it took to find Dahlin a quality partner to begin with

I don’t wanna say Samuelsson is “untouchable”
But it’s really hard to imagine a scenario in which we’d move him

If the Bruins are trading Carlo, it will be for a 1/2 center.
