Description

Just a thought . If Vancouver isn't fighting for a playoff spot by trade deadline, and Demko is stealing games again and playing like a top 5 goalie,would this be a move for Fitzgerald to lock a goalie up for a few more years at a rate that works for now and the future. Kinda funny if it did happen. It's like.a Cory's Schneider 2.0 except the Devils are in a position to contend. Both BC guys also. Not really thrilled about adding Vilen but you have to give to get.

This is if Fitz isn't confident in VV going into another post season. Schmid took.the reins in the first round last year after Vitek never seemed ready .

But if Schmid is the guy, why spend all that on a backup? And if VAN isn't in the playoff race in a very open West, I can't imagine Demko is that impressive the Devils should pay that much for a goalie making as much as he is.

$2m more than VV to be a backup? Why bother? You can get a quality backup for less risk than Demko. This seems to just be buying a guy you hope gets back to form but paying a high cost for the high risk.

Did you watch Demko after he came back from injury?He was very solid. I'm not saying that he is winning a Vezina or anything but from what I saw he had the ability to steal games for them late last season.

My comment was if Schmid was solid, why would the Devils still do this $2m more shouldn't be an issue. I just don't think they should make the deal until they see what Schmid is during the year.
