Adding JGP to Boston's lineup adds little value for them. It is not like they are just a good 3C away from being contenders, so I doubt this would ever happen. If NYI need to dump cap to make trades work, then maybe, but the Bruins have no space for his cap hit either.

It is smart for the Islanders to proactively dump Pageau for an expiring contract this year because of next years pending cap issues. It will probably cost them something by to get off of it next year.

The Bruins will be in a position to add a premium center next year if they don’t do a move like this.
