Only way it makes sense for Ottawa is if Nylander is signed to an extension otherwise we get burned past this season
I am against trading Chabot but asset management is too important for me to pass up on this. I would do this trade and flip Nylander myself for a huge return
Brodie is UFA at the end of the year so either I use him this season or flip him too (deadline?)
Chychrun - Brodie
Sanderson - Hamonic/JBD
Brannstrom - Zub
Thomson
So not only I'd have a huge amount of futures coming from Nylander and Brodie (?), but I would have this too :
Robertson, Nicholas
2024 1st round pick (TOR)
2024 3rd round pick (NYI)
2024 4th round pick (TOR)
I can use these assets at any time or other ones (as I know I'll have more incoming from trading the 2 vets) to improve defense or offense.
But I really hope it wouldn't happen as Chabot is one of my favorite players

Ottawa needs an ideal salary cap situation for the start of the season.
This trade does nothing to achieve that.
Ottawa declines.
Absolutely, but look how I dealt with it above.

Why would Ottawa want to create a massive hole in their defense.
It's true but they have Kleven coming up and Brannstrom has actually looked even better when Chabot was injured. The guy was excelling 2-way playing 23 minutes a night. And even then. Acquire a RHD to replace Brodie (or extend him if he's still good defensively)
