Just curious, he was a disappointment this year. Does he revive himself next year?

Here are Bodker's shooting percentages over the last five years
2016-17 8.2%
2015-16 18.2% With Colorado and 9.0 with Arizona. Overall 10.2%
2014-15 17.7%
2013-14 11.4
2012-13 8.4

Over his career he averages about 10.9%. Ideally is he had the same amount of shots this year as last (122) then he would produce only two more goals. There is a noticeable trend however if he is below 10 percent his numbers increase. in the 2012-13 season he only shot 8.4 the following season his S% shot up to 11.4 an increase of 3 points. The other thing he needs to do to have a rebound yea is just take more shots. he had a 40 shot on goal dip from the past two seasons. This suggest that if Boedker wants to improve his totals is to shoot more. With just 40 more shots he would have increased his goal total to 13.612.

Next Let's look at his Corsi. There were only two seasons where his Corsi rel last year was -1.4. In his career he averages about -1.6 so there could be some improvement. His individual Corsi was at 50.1 which is just above breaking even. His individual numbers suggest that he should be an offensive third line winger.

All in he is not going to have a big bounce back year, I expect his shooting percent to stabilize at his normal level and for his Corsi to drop back down. He'll need to take more shots and he will have to be started more in the offensive zone. Those are going to be the two main factors in any sort of comeback.

Looking at his career he seems to have some dips of about 20ish points then back up to 50+ range... I'll guess he can get around 15-20 goals, maybe 40-50 points... Otherwise they will probably trade him or look at buying him out. He was a real flop last year having probably his worse season since his rookie contract... I'm confused that this is in the main NHL forum sine he is on Sharks... So would think it fits in the Sharks part of the forum... I'm sure having an 8M dollar guy like Jumbo Joe will up his production while not having Marleau anymore giving him more time on PP or on better lines. Like the above poster his shooting percentage was a bit low, even if he can get back to 10% his goals should climb.
