If Detroit trades Boston's 2024 1st then Ottawa gets Detroit's 2024 1st. Since it's unlikely that Detroit makes the playoffs season. That 1st will be a lottery pick and there isn't a need for Detroit to give up 3 1st round picks, 3 2nd round, Maatta and Rasmussen for 2 players. Especially with the center and LHD prospects they have in their system.

Mantha is lazy, has trouble staying focused and has been healthy enough to play 70 games in a season. Trading him and a 2nd for Backlund would be a big mistake.

Detroit declines both those deals.

Lindholm would be nice - if we got him for free. We're not going to give up a 1st + two 2nds + Ras for a player that's not on the top line and we have both Kasper and Danielson coming up as centres soon.

Hanifin is not a need for Detroit, we already have the best prospect pool in the entire league on LD and are not going to trade for 30 year old defenders on expiring contracts.
