I don’t see the Hawks doing this, even with the retention they are still paying $4m for a player who doesn’t provide that kind of value. The flip of picks doesn’t bridge the gap between Dvorak’s on ice value and what Chicago would be paying him or the cap space used.

If Dvorak has another injury that costs him 15 to 20 games like the last two seasons, then he takes a 2nd to move to Chicago (no retention needed). If he's healthy all year and plays decent, then Hawks might consider this.
