Nothing in there for Ottawa to trade one of their brightest futures for.

Canucks easily pass on the Nashville trade

Don’t think Ottawa trades Pinto, even though the value doesn’t seem too bad

Meh, NSH gets the pick back, when they trade Myers at the deadline.

The Nucks finished below NSH in the standings last season, and Pinto & Fabbro aren't big enough gains to ensure they're back in the playoffs. I'm more than happy to get a potential lottery team's unprotected 1st for Fabbro.

It's not awful but not great too, depending on high someone is on Raty

Beauvillier is a bit more productive than Joseph but Mathieu makes up for it defensively and particularly with his work on the PK. With the retention, Sens save about 900 000$ here

So that roughly leaves Pinto for Raty, which would be a no go for the Sens

Yeah it mainly depends on how you view Raty. I think Ottawa can get a better offer, but at the same time being able to get rid of multiple years of Joseph’s contract while replacing him with 1 year of Beauvillier retained (who could be flipped with or without more retention for a decent pick/player) could make it worthwhile for them

Yeah I don't dislike this proposal at all. I have a bit of faith that Beauvillier could bounce back into a good 2-way middle six forward. And Raty could be a quality player. It's risky for Ottawa but could pay off

But note that they won't mind much about Joseph's contract if he bounces back to his norm after this season. They'll have cap space and his 2.95 AAV won't be much of a problem. He's just a cap casualty for this season, but it doesn't mean they will trade him (they could trade Kubalik or Brannstrom instead)
