Maybe not this exact trade but I can definitely see something like this happening but I imagine ot would be to play Laughton as the 3C. Would be strange on top of being a bad idea if it was just to have him play the 4th line.

Meant to put him on line 3. But it’s a brutal idea . Laughton isn’t a longterm piece but pinto is

Take out Pinto and it's more fair.

Not only is it a bad trade you literally have less cap flexibility, hard pass

there’s no way I’d do it but there’s a big possibility Dorion would have overpay for Laughton

The prospect of acquiring Laughton disappeared when we gave 5 million of our cap space to Tarasenko.

Regarding the Zibanejad trade, I can't really blame him. Z was going to need a big raise and Melnyk didn't want to pay it. They even had to wait until after Brass' bonus was paid. Cheap owner makes for limited trades when you're trying to compete.

If Dorion trades Pinto, it will be for as a lateral move or upgrade. His job depends on a strong start and winning. We have very limited depth without Pinto. Not to mention how pissed off the fan base will be, which the new owner may not like as the talking point as he's taking over.

When I can personally afford the cap space it means that you did a pretty good job

lol every proposal gets worse and worse

I'd rather have Joseph than Laughton, younger, faster, better defensively at ES + PK, roughly the same production rate at ES (Laughton has been granted Top-6 minutes and PP on a terrible team)

I'd much rather have JBD than Seeler and a 5th, JBD is part of the plans and is 8 years younger than Seeler

I'd much rather have Pinto than Allison and I don't need to explain why

"This is the same GM that traded Zibanejad for Brassard"

Yeah and its also the same GM that traded Karlsson for Stutzle, Norris, Ostapchuk, Sogaard, Merilainen, Tierney, and Balcers. That doesn't mean we'd get the equivalent of 3 firsts for Pinto.

Bringing up a trade that he made almost a decade ago is a lame attempt at a gotcha moment.
