Is Kyle from Chicago really done

Created by: RicXX
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 23, 2023
Published: Sep. 17, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Advancing to get more earlier picks to rebuild earlier and take advantage of Bedards early years. Having extra picks over the next couple of years to package for better players that were missed out on, or special vets on now tanking teams.

Just some examples of what could be done, not say any will be done.

Probably wouldn't happen, but is the value of the trades close?

Couple of TDL ideas, not necessarily those players to those teams, just picked probable contenders.

Draft day trades of some picks will probably happen, be it trading up or trading picks to later years.

Done in what fashion? TJ/Dickinson seem like TDL moves. I do think there's a cap hit trade before the season starts.

Yes I agree, just throwing out some ideas. KD said earlier that he was done with building the team till the season.

Yeah, he's just telling other GMs that it'll take picks if they're looking to dump cap on the Hawks. Smart move imo too.

Absolutely, and I feel the right thing to do would be to trade up in the draft. I know he tried this year and there were no takes, and the player they wanted slid down to them. But a couple more early selections of a forward and couple of d would set it up for the future.

I see his game plan, 2026 starts the playoff push, to get out of the middle.

I believe he also mentioned possibly bringing in another RHD, so I could see a cap dump to fill that void. Potentially Ceci like you have identified above or perhaps Myers, in either case they will have a pick(s) attached to them.

Absolutely could go that way, maybe trading VAN 2nd for Myres and VAN 1st could make sense.

Oh I forgot to sign one or two of the RD off the reserve for the Hogs, probably Kelly and Ryczek to AHL deals.

Unless Kyle from Chicago makes a move for another vet D man, yes, he's probably done until the trade deadline. As for the trades. Dickinson and Johnson both half retained are definite candidates. Don't think either get a 2nd back unless they are having monster years though. 3rd or 4th seems more likely for both. Edmonton trade favors Oilers in my opinion. Hawks essentially trading Murphy, 2 picks and Mrazak for Ceci. Don't think Hawks do that. Ottawa trade favors the Hawks. Sens don't swap a 1st for a 3rd to dump Joseph. And if they move Joseph, no need to move Kubalik for a poor return like Katchouk and Hardman. They keep Kubs or trade him for a much better return. Interesting ideas though!!

He might be done for now, but the Hawks still have the cap to take a bad contract or two and get assets in return
Gotta think that the Hawks with six expiring UFA contract will attempt to trade those at TDL. At least four can be traded quite easily.

I think that second should be another first from Edmonton or at the very least add another second in there

I think you could ask for more in that EDM deal but that's what I'd call a great conversation starter happy

Fair enough, might be a little light on the Hawks return from Oilers.

I don't agree on the Ottawa assessment, they would favor the 5mish in cap space this year, and a hair under 3m for the next 2 years, especially with cheap replacement level players in return. Chi would have to move the 2 players just to make the roster work. This gives Ottawa the flexibility to waive them, and bump up players or to make another move at the TDL for a playoff push. The first is also the later of the two, and if it's the Detroit pick that comes with a bunch of conditions already.

I would think that GMs would actually look at these AGMs, as they are made up of many people looking at the same things they are. It's an accumulation of brain power so please add your thoughts and move ideas! Let's keep the conversations going!

Cause you never know lol!

And thank you all for the well thought out feedback, and thoughts. We may not always agree on everything but we communicate variance in thoughts so we'll! I appreciate you all!

If Davidson made that Edmonton trade I'd really start to worry about his future with the team. Edmonton is short about two 1st round picks in that trade

Exactly and only one needs to be moved. Sens won't want to move both Joseph and Kubalik. The no brainer option is Kubalik for many reasons

No chance they use 75% of DeBrincat's return to get cap compliant when there's much easier options. They would rather waive Kubalik than do this.
