There's a mechanism that allows teams to create cap space. You may not have heard of it, but it's called a "trade".

Using this "trade" mechanism, the Sens can transfer a player, and their cap, to another team, in exchange for another player/pick/future consideration. With this, Sens can remove a less valuable player from their roster, and use the cap space to sign the more valuable player, Pinto.

I know it's a crazy strategy, but it might just work.
