Seattle gets an upgrade in goal with Ullmark and Boston gets a good center prospect in Goyette.

Between Goyette and Poitras, you’d have two of the better center prospects in the OHL from last year. He’s probably not ready this year, but I like his offensive game. Driedger is overpaid as a backup, but you need to balance salaries and he’s solid enough to allow Bussi to continue to develop.

Seattle’s primary concern is goalie. Daccord is interesting after his year at Coachella Valley, but you add the Vezina award winner for 1.5m incremental in salary over Driedger and a prospect whose good, but not in your top set of guys.

I’m not sure if Boston considers this now, because I believe their goaltender tandem is a major strength.

Interesting…
I feel like Boston has no leverage while they’re still trying to make a playoff run. I think of Seattle’s looking to upgrade their goalie situation. They might try to pry Swayman from the Bruins or go after Hellybuck from the Jets?

There is no reason for Boston to trade Swayman unless they are getting the immediate upgrade at center they want. I thought of Swayman and Lysell with other considerations for Wright, but I doubt that hunts atleast now

With regard to Hellebuyck, can Seattle afford a goalie who is going to ask for 6 years, $60m after this year? This deal is atleast two years and then figure it out.

Boston doesn’t have to trade a goalie. It’s likely one of their strengths and frankly their defensive structure is one of the main strengths of last years team. They will almost certainly be in a cap position to add a center next year.

I might have an irrational liking of Goyette.

😂 I sometimes get fixated on prospects or players that would look good in a spoked B…

I think this season is going to be just run with what they have and see how they do. But if they start to fade, I think they should peel off anyone who’s not untouchable and restock the cupboards with picks and prospects…

Boston will still be a powerful team in the league what will probably hurts them most is the center depth that is not as it was before. Losing Bergeron and Krejci in the same year suck. But the wings, defensemen and goaltender are still really good for them.

I could see the Bruins with the mentality of retool/reset at deadline. Try to stay as competitive as they could but if they are fading down around deadline trade aways piece not core for them and acquire asset back to replenish the core group.

Ehh... Seattle would need to be considerably better than that. First of all, Goyette is probably not a C by NHL standards. He's smallish, only an average skater and his level of effort is rather selective from shift to shift. Long story short, he's at absolute best a B prospect, and frankly I'd quibble with that assessment, too. That does not cover the wiiiiiiide gulf between Ullmark and Driedger.

I disagree with Pronman on a few prospects. Goyette is one of them. He tends to hold his draft positions on players. He’s smaller than I’d like, but his skill level is pretty high. I personally believe him and Poitras are going to be a lot better than many of the names he had in his top 175.

Some publications rate him as the #3 prospect in their system before this draft.

I disagree with Pronman plenty, too. Not sure what he has to do with it. Plenty of places talk about the same deficiencies in his game I mentioned. It's a pretty common critique for a good reason.

And before this draft, Seattle's pool was a bit thin, as one would expect from a team with only two draft classes and the best guy they've drafted already a full time NHL plyaer.

Yeah the Bruins look almost set to roll out what they have knowing next year they have McAvoy, Pasta, Marchand, Coyle, Zacha, Lindholm, Carlo, Frederic, Geekie, Ullmark all signed with $28 million in cap to go shopping.

If the Bruins aren't in a playoff spot, they move Ullmark and Matty G to free more cap and get some assets back
