You know Boston isn't doing that. Right?

Nobody paying a top 4D and a top 6 winger for nylander who is a rental and bruins probably wouldn’t be able to afford him on his next contract

If Nylander makes it to free agency, the Bruins seem like a sneaky team to acquire him with their cap position.

Apparently if the reports are true Willie wants 10+ a year, the Bruins need a center, not Nylander. After this season they have 11 I think core players signed and 28 million to go shopping, if you are the Bruins you dont spend 10+ million on Willie.

Also the above trade is something Bruins hang up on real fast.

Nylander was a center growing up and his faceoff win percentage and defense certainly says he can be one. If the choice is paying a poor defensive center who will be 31 (Scheifele) similar money, I could see a scenario where they take this risk. He is apparently playing center now.

Scheifele wont likely get the same amount that Nylander will. That being said, I would pay Schiefele 6-8 on a short term vs Willie $10-12 on a long term.

Not sure the claim about his defensive prowess is indicative that he handle playing line 1 center duties. Willie is not that great defensively and definitely takes shifts off (quite often on the back check). Not to mention he hasn't taken more than 250 faceoffs in a NHL season in 4 years. If he was good that good of a center he would be playing it more often even with the Leafs. I am not saying he can't become more defensive and round out his game better, but its not a player the Bruins need for and especially at $10+ million a year. I would take Elias Lindholm and many others over him and they would also likely demmand less money.

If Carlo was a rental, like Nylander and Debrusk, this might make sense, but he's signed for 4 more years. For that reason, I don't think this is a good deal for Boston. Also, as some others have said, Nylander is probably not the guy they'd go after to fill their hole at center. They'd want somebody with more experience at that position at the NHL level.

...also, this seems like too much to give Anaheim for a salary retention of under $2M.
