Avs pass. They won't be able to afford to re-sign Hanifin or Lindholm.

I love the concept behind the Flames trade. I wonder if Hanifin would be a backup option if Toews ends up being out of their price range. Adding Lindholm gives them championship level forward depth too.

Given the term Girard has left, he's definitely the kind of guy the Flames should be targeting too. There may need to be more total value going back given what they could probably get if they shipped them out separately, but I love the idea.

That's a trade they probably do for a cup win.. didn't lekhy alone cost barron and a 2nd? And lindholm is much more expensive than lekhy

I would prefer an earlier pick, but a second for Kovacevic is probably the price to pay

I'd love to hear OP's justification for the Sens trade.

Kastelic is younger, years of team control instead of being UFA, has a much better NHL career in games played and points, bigger, more physical, great 4C.

The only thing in Olofsson's favor is making 60k less, which is enough cap space to do absolutely nothing.

Can you stop trying to steal Ottawa players?

Kastelic may just be a 4th liner but he's a quality 4th liner

He is huge, a fitness freak, pretty intimidating, was elite on faceoffs in his rookie season and already good defensively. He even has a scoring touch that will improve with time

Maybe, if they're going for one and done. The next season you're down Hanifin, Lindholm, Girard, possibly Toews, if Drouin has had a good year then in all likelihood he prices himself out of Colorado. Simply put you're losing more than you did last time the Avs won it, and even then you're just gambling on winning it, there's no surefire guarantee. Count me out, that kind of gamble is too rich for my blood.

It's not that I don't "like" because I am interested to see every thread involving the Sens but how did you come up with this one for example? Olofsson wouldn't even be picked up on waivers.

And Kastelic would? I understand he's good on faceoffs but it's not like he's an elite top six power forward lol. Incredibly replaceable player. He's a bigger, slower, Nate Thompson

I'm pretty sure close to 31 teams would claim him. He makes $835,000 AAV for the next 2 seasons. Just for his size and face-off ability they would.

And what kind of argument is that? "it's not like he's an elite top six power forward"

He doesn't have to be anything close to that for the Sens to NOT want to trade him for Fredrik freaking Olofsson

The other day same thing, a guy wanted to acquire Erik Brannstrom with Logan freaking Stanley lol

It would also solve the toews problem, frees up space for toews new deal, so you run a toews makar Byram Manson.

Then you still have everyone you have today minus drouin and Tatar but you most likely gain a landeskog

Even if that panned out I'd stall say that's too big a gamble. Girard's value is a first and a second. So that's basically three firsts, a second and a decent prospect for a gamble shot at the cup, some cap space that may or may not allow you to sign Toews and a 4th. Like I said, too rich for my blod.

Girards value is lowered by the fact that there isn't really a good trade partner out there for him, and because teams know colorado is dishing him in order to sign toews... if cgy wants him, it's still a great chance at another cup, with lindholm and hanafin... besides that your giving up the 30-32 pick and olousson who still won't make the team this year.

Also yesterday when toews spoke to the media he said he wants to stay in Colorado the rest of his career and elliotte friedman is reporting he'd take a discount to stay

Girard is being dished says who? Look at what Newhook fetched in and also compare with the Hronek deal. The Avs could move Manson instead so there's no need to move Girard, hence no reason for considering him to have low value. It's the kind of gamble I wouldn't make for two rentals and you won't convince me otherwise.

That's fine, its your opinion.. mine is that lindholm gives us the best possible chance to win a cup.

And the reason I would trade Girard over Manson is because Manson brings to the table a different type of play then the rest of the defense, he has a NTC modified, and because when he's healthy imo he's much better than Girard.

Olousson is starting to look like another kaut, he can't break into the NHL because of his consistency and the fact that their isn't a spot for him in the top 6, and he doesn't have the skillset for the bottom 6.

Meyers is the only guy from last year that has to play his way onto the team and if tufte can play centre from what I've heard bednar really likes him.

And again the 1st could be the 32nd overall if they win again.

Likewise that's your opinion with a lot of mights and maybes.
