How do you think Kubalik changes the situation at all? Teams trying to compete still don't have the cap room and he's not worth anything to teams who are tanking.
Teams "tanking" or rebuilding could see it as a smart investment. BUY LOW (maybe a 4th/5th now?) SELLHIGH (2nd at the deadline?)
Teams competing in need of scoring depth could then decide to move another player or even waive or bury that player in the AHL, just to have the space to fit Kubalik's modest AAV
Plus, injuries will happen and more players will go on LTIR. Even if there is NO NEED (doubtful) for a 20g/45 pts scorer (at only 2.5 AAV) NOW, the need is going to be created as soon as there's a few injuries. So it's very possible that Pinto misses a few games... Giroux can still play Center, Greig is also a top prospect and Center (will be better than Pinto IMO)
Tkachuk missed the first 3 games 2 years ago... It's a bit of a similar situation although for different reasons

He's been available at deadlines before. He ended up not being traded and then not being qualified.
Not a very good argument and here's why :
He has played 4 NHL seasons, I really doubt the Hawks wanted to trade him during his first 2 seasons. He scored 26 ES goals in 68 games in his rookie season... He had a really poor 3rd year so the Hawks decided to let him go (most likely not anticipated because they were going through a lot of changes). During his 4th season, he was under contract the following year so the Wings most likely didn't have the intention to move him, until the DeBrincat situation happened.

I'm not sure a Sens fan should be harping on 'people on this site'. You guys were up in arms it wouldn't take stuff like a 1st to move Joseph right up until it did.
lol it never DID in real life. Gosh, reality seems to be such an abstract concept nowadays

Now you just have a player who's unhappy because he didn't get paid for a full season because of a GMs incompetence. That's a worse problem than what you started with. It's not a solution at all. It's also not realistic at all because Dorion would be signing his own death warrant.
The GM's problem has been there for 7 years. It might have taken new ownership to fix that issue. It will happen rather sooner than later (most Sens fans hope)
