Description
Don’t even want to mention who said it lately since this is the 4th or 5th time I’ve seen an ‘insider’ write this same hypothesis of Grier shopping Hertl and Couture if they don’t want to participate in the rebuild…

Pass and it’s so one sided I would probably block the number to make it clear of my lack of interest.

Hertl for Grz and Swayman might make some sense. My guess is they’d have to take Forbort too just to make the financials work this year and prevent retention.

1st/Lysell/mid level pick is the max for Hertl

The salary swaps to make this happen will likely be worth something. I’m hesitant to trade Lysell unless he’s valued to his talent level

Yes, that’s the point. The only way this works is to try and make the cap swaps equal for the Bruins sake and to show The Sharks that they’re not getting junk. The other options are trying to work Coyle and Zboril into a deal or Zacha and Grzelcyk! Or wait until the trade deadline.

Triple for a Bruins fan…not enough for a Sharks fan.

They are not. I was strictly talking in terms of his value.

Boston is not trading for Hertl or Couture anyway so…

Jimmy Murphy “rumors”. Lol.

Either one would be a really good fit though IMO.

Except for their contracts. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I don’t believe Hertl’s will age well. Couture would be a decent band aid with retention if they paid little for him, but not for 4 years. They need someone younger. Long term solution.

Poitras is going to make life difficult for Boston front office. Great camp. Best player at their development series. Goal and an assist in preseason game tonight. They might just give him that 9 game look and see what happens. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I dunno man. Who's your #C right now? Zacha? I'm not saying you guys have to settle, but your top-six C situation is not great. What options do you really have?

Zacha had 21g 57p last year and filled in at C during the season and playoffs as needed and was decent enough there. I’m not sure how panic buying a 65 point vet with fleas is any better of an option.

Coyle and Geekie will be fine at middle 6.

Beecher will likely win the 4th spot.

Poitras and Merkulov are talented youngsters knocking on the door.

This is a middle of the pack team, fighting for a WC slot one way or the other. Rather let what they have play a see where they are at, than make a move that is questionable and do more long term harm than good.

I think the East is just too competitive to not jump on a chance like that. I guess I don't see acquiring either one of them as questionable. Maybe Couture because of his age. There definitely would need to be retention with him, but I think Hertl would thrive there. Look what he's done a terrible SJ team. With Buffalo and Ottawa rising fast in your division, plus the Metro will be a log-jam again, you guys can't run with middle of the pack. At least to me.

I like Hertl. I’d offer Ullmark and Grzelcyk for him if San Jose isn’t among the 16 team NMC. Maybe add a secondary (not top) prospect like Brett Harrison or Trevor Kuntar to make things a little more even

They’d probably want Swayman and Grzelcyk for him with some other cap considerations in place (Forbort for a minimum?).

I do believe there is a potential deal for Hertl. Don’t see Couture because of his age and contract. I believe Courture is paid a premium during his senior NHL years.
