Pinto RFA Rights to PHI - Maybe we can help each other out here

Team: 2023-24 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 26, 2023
Published: Sep. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
PHI gets negotiation rights to Pinto, and if signed, gains a current 3C, but with potential for longterm 2C (or higher). Perfect compliment for their rebuilding team (he grows with them). Joseph is taken on as a salary dump and helps fill veteran quota. Has no hands unfortunately, but has SPEED to burn. Would be very successful in a PK role. Branny is another speedy player who can get the puck out quickly and/or will take the puck, himself, and surprise a few forwards and defenders as he's known to occasionally weave and bob into the opposition's zone. Perfect age range as well for joining the crew. He would also like to take on a larger workload, and could absolutely fluorish. Laughton to Sens, helps fill a much needed top-6 role on the left side. Could play separately from Giroux, or re-establish a PHI connection. Problem is that he's taken on a leadership role in PHI, with Giroux's departure. Thought about Konecny as well as he used to play junior hockey in Ottawa, but not sure how that contract would fit here without us trading more pieces. Let me know your thoughts. :)

I mean yeah I would even take Brannstrom out to make the deal more fair but Sens fans think Pinto is the next Bedard so they are gonna laugh at this offer you made

They think he's Bedard? That's the first I've heard of that one! o.O

He played over his (young) head as a 2C last year, and could run as a 3C this year (with room to grow). Extemely talented guy who could possibly be signed to 2-2.2M.

With respect to Branny, unfortunately there's just no more room on the left side. SanderSZN has arrived. Bran just hasn't been able to stick. I feel like this would be a favour to send him somewhere where he can play, and hopefully fluorish. smile

Oh I totally agree the Bedard comment is just an exaggeration lol but you aren’t going to get the moon and the stars for him like most Sens fans want because of the situation Dorion put himself in. Ur not getting a top 6 player like fans want because Pinto isn’t a top 6 player himself

It's more the "potential" for a top six player with complimenting pieces.

Oh well, a guy can try, right? haha

Just don't see the benefit to Ottawa in the deal. Laughton is a stud but I'd rather find a way to move someone and keep pints

Philly fans are the same way with career 3rd liner Laughton. Gotta pay the whole house to get him.

Sens fans should roast this deal, it's horrible for them

Oh I get it but you can’t trade a top 6 guy for a guy with top 6 potential that’s just not what happens you would have to add onto that to get the already proven top 6 player and adding Joseph only makes it worse lol.

Who on earth said he was? Dude is a 3rd liner lol. I literally said this trade is fine even take out Brannstrom to make it more fair because Sens fans think they can get a top 6 player for Pinto but they can’t. Nobody in this whole thread said or thinks Laughton is a top 6 player lol we are talking about them trading for a hypothetical top 6 player. You should try reading everything a few times if that helps you understand it.

In 2 years. pinto will be a top 6 stud, Brannstrom will be a good #4.

Where will Laughton be exactly? Probably worse than his 3rd line current self

In 2 years Pinto will still be unsigned because Dorion refuses to move anybody to sign him😂

It's infuriating but the patience has to be there. We all know the candidate(s) to be moved. Just nothing is happening.

I think we'll have a better view of things just before camps end and cuts start to happen and the cap situation for everybody is clear.

I just feel for Pinto. Fans setting a lot of expectations on him but with missing so much training camp and preseason it’s probably going to be a tough start to the season for him

This package is for Travis Konecny, not Scott Laughton

Joseph > Laughton by the way (defensively, PK and scoring rate at ES)

Paying Pinto and Brannstrom who are both quality young players to make a Joseph-Laughton swap would be horrific for Ottawa

Might as well just WAIVE Brannstrom and sign Pinto

Don't listen to that guy, he's an absurd troll. No one has been asking to anything close that would make it seem like Pinto is Bedard, it's just that Sens fans have been rejecting a million lowball offers. There's plenty to see if you want to take a look

Laughton is not a stud, it's a fabricated narrative. He's a glorified 3rd liner who has received Brady-like Top-6 minutes with some PP too the last 2 seasons. It's the same thing as when Chris Tierney scored 48 pts.

Laughts is a stud, but not in the top 6 sense. Guy's a treasure and I will white knight him until I die. Otherwise no point because as you've stated before the whole reason of moving Joseph is to sign Pinto.

I see, he's a hard worker and that makes him a fan favorite, I can understand but I would still not give a crazy package for him

I mean, Connor Brown was traded for a 2nd last offseason and he's a better version. Connor Brown has a non-stop motor and has flawless work ethic
