That is interesting......

I would have to think Grier at least listens to it.

Sokolov's game has him rounding out to be a Barabnov type guy..... defensive game aside.

Bernard-Docker looks to be a competent 6-7 D now.

Joseph is more than a useful piece here..... the contract has always been the hang up.

Not sure the 2-2nds are necessary. One fore sure. Bit I guess that depends on what Grier thinks of the two youngsters and how they should fit into the Sharks long term plans.

I really like Benning here as a Sens puck up. A lot.

Benning and Barabonov are on absurdly team-friendly deals, I don't think this is enough for them + retention. The Sharks are completely overloaded with bottom pairing defense and bottom 6 forwards, they aren't really in the market for more of them unless they come with good picks. The value might not be far off, but the Sharks don't really want any of those players.

I would say the picks are unneeded. The players should be plenty.

this would give Ottawa an interesting 3rd line, however, you don't have Greig on here and he is making the team. With the addition of these players thou, I would think that Bailey isn't signed and a younger player slots in.

You can say that all you want but honestly the players are unneeded and the picks are necessary. Sharks aren’t looking to fill out the depth chart they are looking to build the prospect pool and bank picks for the future.

This deal is reasonable and the guy who wrote it was trying to be fair while bolstering his team so I won’t bash it but this isn’t exactly what the sharks would be looking for to move both these players.

oops wrong thread

But while I'm there

- Barabanov is NOT a type the Sens need with Kubalik and Tarasenko already. Also no PP time for him

- JBD is in the team's plans, Doubt they'd move him after signing him 2 years on a 1 way

- value isn't bad overall (Benning has a great contract and is pretty decent) but Ottawa needs to STOP spending picks. Dorion has traded or squandered way too many already.

They need to go for a SIMPLE option. LTIR is my bet (could be from another team)

Not a bad assessment, but Barabanov is a playmaker not a sniper, could actually see him and Tarasenko working really well together. Actually think that was the plan when sharks offered him a contract was to pair those two together.
Benning had a really positive bounce back year and looked like a serviceable top 4 on a H/S level contract! But I agree I don’t see the logic in Ottawagiving up assets for either one.

Yeah, was not really talking about playmaking vs sniping, more that Sens have enough offensive forwards, it will already be extremely hard to keep everyone happy with PP and offensive opportunities. Need more shutdown forwards like Joseph

Like I said, Sens need to stop spending assets, Dorion already spent 2nd + 3rd + 4th + 7th to get rid of Zaitsev and Murray contracts (only 75%), plus lost in value in the DeBrincat saga, spent on Chychrun (which was totally worth it though) and all the blunders from the past.

Go with a simple solution.

Chychrun was a good deal! Debrincat could have been great! This isn’t a good trade
