I know the sens have cap problems right now but Kubalik costs at least the TB or WPG 2nd. He's a 20 goal, 40+ point guy who can be a solid sniper on a PP unit and play on your 2nd line seamlessly if needed. And his cap hit is only $2.5M.

I mean, considering the alternative is not being able to sign pinto or having to pay a first round pick to dump Joseph, I think not having to pay to offload Kubalik is more than fair, let alone getting a late pick in return. I say this as a neutral fan in this scenario.

Gives nashville a 1C.
Leaves nashville with Kemell and Wood as RW prospect depth.
Svechkov becomes rather expendable with Zegras, Parssinen, Glass down the center as the future center group.

Anaheim gets a good young RW player/prospect.
A future middle 6 C
A 1st round pick likely between 11 and 20.

I doubt anaheim does it but im ok with it from a nashville standpoint.

If you are going all in and Kubalik can be had for cheapish, then it would be a good investment.

Yeah I agree with that except for the fact that they don't actually NEED to make a move to sign Pinto and become cap compliant, there are other solutions that are much better than not signing Pinto or giving up a 1st to get rid of a useful 3rd liner making $1M too much.

They can waive Joseph, Sign Pinto to a 2x$2M and be cap compliant (20 man roster). Not ideal but better than losing a 1st for nothing, especially seeing as though this is just a 1 year cap crunch and they have lots of space next year.

I mean, sure, you can do that, but the first time someone goes down with an injury day to day or week to week, you're looking at an extended time playing with only 11 forwards or 5 defensemen. Seems like a recipe for disaster when the Senators are good and want to compete. Moving Kubalik out for a late pick is much better than having to play short-handed and it's marginally better than giving up a first for cap relief with Joseph. I think this is a big season for the Sens and they shouldn't play this situation out conservatively - they should be making decisions that set them up for success. But I'm also not super educated on the entirety of the Sens situation.

I know you said this was for fun, but honestly with Verbeek player hard ball with Zegras, Nashville should either make a move or just offer sheet him. it gets you a true #1 Center and forwards your rebuild a ton.

It's not a great return for Kubalik but considering the situation, not that bad. Nashville would need to have an interest too, which would be to be able to sell Kubalik higher at the deadline (like a 2nd)... Maybe 4th + 7th would be more fair?

And having a star player with that personality as we would be great for a market like Nashville. He would be a great addition, and NSH has the pieces to make a competitive offer. Not sure Trotz is ready for a move like this yet, but it’s definitely an interesting idea.
