Canes have no interest in that whatsoever. And if Pesce were going to sign that, he would already have put pen to paper with the Canes.

Carolina isn't trading Brett Pesce when they're all in for the cup this year, Plus i seriously doubt that Pesce would waive for Vancouver plus he's asking for 7 x 7.

Buffalo declines, neither player pushes the needle. And like Raven said Comrie is insurance for UPL

Santa Dorion is a giver, so yes he might be ok to give you Joseph and JBD

Studnicka and Joshua would be sent down to Belleville. He'd give them a lot of money to play in the AHL too.

The gift that keeps on giving.

Personally I would have never put myself in a situation where I'd have to do things like this but whatever

So, why would the non playoff Canucks trade a lottery pick for Pesce, just to have for one season. Non sensical that he would ever sign for five years with the Canucks.

Penguins say no giving up too much in value with both Poulin and Smith in the return for Cole (34 DFD on the decline at 3x1). While Carter is definitely an albatross he comes off the books after the year anyway so even if Poulin and Smith are both B to C level Potential they are both at least early 20s players no need to give up both for an aging 3LD when we already have 4 NHL LHD on the roster

Dude you think the Penguins can wait a year lol
The Penguins are at end of days here with Malkin saying he is done in 2 or 3 and Sid’s is up in 2 years so if Dubas “ wait until next year “ and he will be like Hextall and Burke looking for a new job

You obviously no nothing about the Canuck’s owner who has been known to push for trades like the horrible OEL trade that he thinks makes the team better, why else is their not a line up of experienced GM’s when he Canucks job becomes available ?
So you think teams just give up a boat load of assets to let the player walk at the end of the season?

Don’t worry Dorian won’t be around long unless the Senators miraculously go on a long playoff run

Sorry, you nothing about free agency. A player has a choice......"letting a player walk". There is no such thing. The player decides whether he wants to sign or not (if offered a contract). I guess the only way a New Yorker would sign with very middling Canucks if the contract was so outrageously high. Of course the Canucks the have a history of making horrible UFA signings.

Well, Dorion is just as lucky as bad... that is the problem. This team will break out this season so it will be very hard to justify firing Dorion.

I actually would take a 1st round exit of winning a round or two and be stuck with Dorion. That's how damageable I think he is

Andlauer has Staois running the show and he probably wants his own guy as GM since Staois is on the clock and if anyone else that has worked for Andlauer knows he holds people accountable and lives and dies by the motto “ there is always a better way “ which doesn’t describe Dorian at all

I guess you don’t understand how trades work with players on expiring contract then because if you trade all those assets for a player on an expiring contract and don’t go over the framework of an extension before making the trade then you are a certified moron that should not be handling fantasy hockey teams never mind an NHL executive position and I doubt he walks away from a 6 year $6,500,000 to $7,500,000 per season deal

Can you name just once when a true Cup contender in this case the Canes allowed a star player to negotiate a new contract with another team, one full season away from his contract expires. I guess you don't understand how trades work.

Horvat last year, his contract was resigned less then a month after the trade, no way that happens without knowing what he wanted

Were the Canucks contenders at that point in the season? I recall them looking like a potential lottery team before Demko got hot at the end of the season to push them out.

You have be kidding. The Canucks were not a Cup contending team. Trades and signings like Horvat happen almost yearly.
But read what I wrote.

I was talking about a star player allowed to negotiate a new contract with a new team in the last year of his deal, but if you want “ cup contender “ then it would be Huberdeau in the last year of his deal with the Panthers and getting traded in the package for Tkachuk and getting a new deal done in less then a month after arriving in Calgary just like Horvat

No, it was a trade. Tkachuk was allowed to negotiate with any team since he was RFA....Both team didn't go the offer sheet route, so they made a trade. Calgary made a good trade one year of Tkachuk for one year of Huberdeau, one year of Weager and a first. Huberdeau and Weager were not negotiating with the Flames before the trade. Of course Huberdeau signed that offer. What a disaster for the Flames

I said framework, so knowing first if they even want to resign with the team acquiring them and then how many years and cap hit so they fit them in their cap structure before pulling off the trade otherwise the acquiring team is going in blind to find out the player has now plan of staying there and will test the UFA market for certain teams
Guaranteed both players did this in the Tkachuk and Hubredeau trade
