Just embarrassing for the Senators, that they couldn;t deal these young guys: Docker, Sokolov, lassi Thomson for even a 4th rounder each.

Two 1sts and a 2nd rounder (over the past 5 drafts) lost for nothing (in all likelihood). Theyre young and could develop elsewhere easily

It's something Kyle Davidson needs to take note of today. Stock piling picks could have its draw backs down the road. How does this information affect his decision making in the future?

All 3 were 22 y/o last season. Note that it's the guy who gave up on Mika Zibanejad and Filip Gustavsson too early as well. Or traded Dylan DeMelo for a 3rd when he had good chemistry with Chabot and the Sens were in a dire NEED for a RHD who could defend. Chabot was then stuck with Zaitsev which partly messed up his confidence

Related to waivers, he waived Rudolfs Balcers and Filip Chlapik in 2020-21 (56 games season) when these guys were on the roster (GP) : Chris Tierney (55), Evgeny Dadonov (55), Colin White (45), Austin Watson (34), Derek Stepan (20), Artem Anisimov (19), Cedric Paquette (9), Alex Galchenyuk (8)

He got lucky with Balcers as he ended up injury-prone but he was actually a good 3rd liner with the Sharks with good advanced stats. Chlapik has been doing really well in Europe, he was the best player in the Czech league in 2021-22. Not a huge deal but when you prioritize BAD PLAYERS with absolutely no future on your team... It could have been to TANK, but he selected Tyler freaking Boucher with that 10th OA pick. lol.

There's just no limit to how bad Dorion is. Clearly the worst GM since Milbury for me

My advice : don't draw any conclusions from Dorion's management. Actually, try to do the opposite.

That's kinda what I mean though. It's still using this as a learning opportunity, but look at what he did wrong and don't make the same mistakes.

Right? I woke up this morning to the news. A few people posted it on Twitter but it isn't on Capfriendly. Can't believe they would do that, though.

Doubt he makes it past Anaheim. We'll claim him and toss Lassi back out to sea.

Yes but don't hesitate to stockpile picks and prospects, treat every asset with importance. But sometimes, make decisions early before your asset plummet in value. Trade some guys for late picks, or package a few of them to get a player or a better pick, anything but always keep the "buy low sell high" mentality

I was an executive in sales before I was even 30 y/o and I have never seen a high level manager without any foresight or asset management acumen. This is astounding to me.

Why not claim him, he's exactly the profile of guy Chicago should be giving chances too.

It is my understanding that ANA moves to the back of the waiver order after they claimed Thomson. So, the only team in front of CHI right now is CBJ.

Yeah...once you claim someone...you go to the back. ANA doesn't even have enough time to send Lassi back to see.

And Columbus already have excess RHD and much better options.

Not how it work man, Ducks have first right of refusal on all waivers until Nov 1 when selection order changes to this year's standings. We would have to waive someone to maintain roster size, but we can claim anyone from now until Nov 1 before any other teams.

Yeah. I think it used to be different where teams move to the back after making a claim, but I can't find anything in the current rules that says that is how it works now. That, or I just mixed it up with another sport or fantasy league. So, I think you are right.

Fantasy hockey you move to the back when you claim on waivers, but for the NHL it's just reverse standings. It's unlikely Columbus takes a D on waivers though so you should be able to claim Lasso before SJ gets a chance.

That isn't how that works, though, either. If ANA wants to put Lassi on waivers, first OTT gets the option to claim him back, and then any other teams that may have put in a claim get a shot, as well. If none of them do so, ANA can officially put him on waivers. So, if CHI did put in a claim in the first place, they would get the first shot at him behind OTT, anyway.

Is that actually the case? I know if we wanted to tradi Lassi, we'd first have to offer him to anyone else who put a claim on him initially. I thought if we waive him he just goes back out to sea and it's a full new waivers process in which Ottowa could claim him if he gets that low.

I can't find any verbage on that one.

Yeah. I read it in a few places when I was searching for the rules. But, if OTT wanted Lassi back, they would essentially have to put him on waivers again and start the whole process over. So, it seems like more of a courtesy than anything.

Looks like the whole thing just got leaked early, because he is on TODAY's waivers, not yesterday's.
