If there is one team that Stamkos would possibly waive to, it would be the Leafs. BUT I don't like this for either team really.

I would love Stamkos on the Leafs, but based on what we have, do we need him more than our starting goalie, one of our better prospects and a 1st? I would say no.

As for Tampa, They have a few holes, one being that they are missing a top 6 forward. So they should not be removing one top 6 forward. They should be adding one. Their goaltending issue (which is temporary) can be easily stopped gapped in a different way.

Both teams say no.

I like Stamkos at 50% retained but that's too high a package especially giving up your starting goalie.
The other point is that this would only be for one year of Stamkos as we would not be able to afford to resign him considering our current overpayments for our core 4 so I don't see it as plausible.

There is no sense for TB to do this, we are way worse than we would be if we didn't do this. Tampa NEEDS a top-6 forward, not to give one away.
You've somehow made that need even worse by taking away a proven albeit injury prone NHL player that's a guaranteed top 6, for a younger, injury prone, unproven skater that's more of a reclamation project than an actual addition to the lineup.

No actually Toronto is probably the last place he waives to. When he met with Toronto last time and as an adult realized the fishbowl living in Toronto and playing for the leafs would be he came back the next morning having cancelled other scheduled visits went into Yzerman's office and said give me what you can Full NMC buyout proof I'll sign it. Which is exactly what Happened. The only major difference is now he's married with 2 kids. Even more of a reason to not want to live in a fishbowl.

when you can run one of the worst goalies in the league over the past 5 years and a kid with less than 10 games in the NHL as your tandem when you try to compete. you just gotta do it
